WOLF LEGION is a band of guys that met back in 1992 with the formation of the Fredericksburg, VA thrash band, Transgression. 

All four of us feeding off the love of thrash metal, being young and playing fast. Over the years we have all been in other bands, but all kept in contact through the metal music scene. 

Transgression took a break from playing in 2015. Yeah, that’s 23 years of thrash! Whew…

Anyway, in 2016 three of the members of that band reconnected (John Wood, John Dolan and Tim Griffith) with the plans to create some “rock” music under the name Gunfighter. We wrote fifteen original songs and played a couple shows in the Virginia area. After an exhausting search for a lead guitarist, we met back up with old friend Andrew Cinco. We had known Andrew since 1992 and after a bit of convincing, he was in.

Well, somewhere in there, we went to see a Toxic Holocaust show and then a Carcass/Slayer show and the thrash thing that had been stirring away in our DNA started to rear its ugly head. Gunfighter songs started to get faster and more aggressive until finally we realized the moniker Gunfighter no longer fit us. 

Therefore, WOLF LEGION was born. 

In August 2018 WOLF LEGION released its debut album “Blessed the Bloodshed” with a few local shows to promote. We are all a bit older and have outgrown all the “rock star” dreams now. WOLF LEGION now just has its sights set on creating the most aggressive thrash metal we can and playing it for our friends “The Legion”. We hope you like what we have created for you and hope to see you in the near future. -John W.

We chose the Wolf as it’s the most aggressive pack hunting animal alive. And Legion, well, that’s a vast group of people all looking for the same thing.
