● What is love for you?
I am the father of a 3yo little girl, so when I think about the love she's the first thing that springs to mind!
Love is the ultimate necessity to give without needing a return. Giving love to others around us is the most generous act we are capable of, while receiving love is what makes us bloom.
I would have never made this EP without the love and support of the love of my life, my partner in crime, my best friend: my beautiful wife who pushed me to share the music I had inside of me with the world.

● What's the closest thing to real magic for you?
We all experience magic every day as the driving force that binds the universe together. I became Buddhist a few years ago which gave me a way to connect to that energy. With this in hand, you can overcome any obstacle in your life and you become the only architect of your happiness and one of the people around you. It doesn't beat Dr Strange but we're not too far off :)

● What's the most useless talent you have?
I can make my eyes tremble. Don't ask me how, I just can. Yes, I know it's creepy.

Following on from his Tamoanchan EP inspired by the landscapes and diversity of Mexico, El Búho presents "Chinampa" - the twin EP this time inspired by the sprawling Mexico City or Distrito Federal. Chinampa comes from the Nahuatl work for an old agricultural practice of growing crops on the lake beds in the Valley of Mexico, often on floating islands that can still be seen today if you take one of the beautiful trajinera canal boats in the iconic area of Xochimilco. Though the album is a dedication to "DF´s" urban sprawl, it digs down deeper to find inspiration in the cities inherent ties to water and to ways of life - past and present. 

"Salto de Agua", now a bustling metro stop used to mark the end of the ancient Chapultepec aqueduct - one of the series of canals that allowed the Aztecs to navigate the city. Meanwhile, "Al Tianguis" is a nod to the city´s renowned market´s (tianguis), a tradition that has existed for hundreds of years and remains a crucial part of city life and culture. "Pasale" is a word that you hear all over the city, but especially on its public transport system like the infamous green pesero buses that race through the city streets, booming out classic cumbias or banda and the unwritten rules of traveling on these beasts. The final track, "Temporada de Lluvia", was inspired by the immense downpours during the city´s rainy season from June to September when for a few hours in the afternoon the city is transformed back into its ancient watery past. The city swells with water as the major roads around the city become flooded canals and chaos descends. 

UK born, Robin Perkins AKA El Búho is now based in Paris but spent the last two years living, working, playing and producing music in México City.

This week I released Chinampa, my second EP inspired by my time spent in Mexico - this time a journey through the urban sprawl of Mexico City.

While we were finishing the EP the French producer Yeahman offered to do a remix and came up with the super refreshing remix of "Salto de Agua" - sprinkled with guitar licks, percussion and organic sounds.

Nacido en Lisboa, Portugal con ancestros brasileños, Tempura the Purple Boy es el proyecto en solitario del bajista, productor y DJ Bernardo D’Addario.

Como bajista desde los 16 años, ha contribuido con sus líneas de bajo a muchos éxitos de platino y oro en su natal Portugal, lanzando trabajos en una gran variedad de géneros musicales. 

Tras completar sus estudios musicales en Londres y Rotterdam y al descubrir Berlín, nace la pasión por la música electrónica de bajo tempo, por ello para 2018 comienza a pinchar y producir música electrónica y un año más tarde lanza su primer trabajo original via @ohxalarecords junto con 2 trabajos ambientales auto editados. 

Para 2020 llega el lanzamiento de su EP "Backyard Animalz" en el sello brasileño  @nucleo.gatopardo y de la mano de su primer remix "Rainbow Child", una pista del artista argentino Janax Pacha via @numamusica. Su próximo EP, "Proverbial Microbial", saldrá a través del nuevo sello portugués @undergardenlabel.

Para 2021, Tempura buscará traspasar los límites de los ritmos electrónicos lentos mezclados con el folclore tradicional portugués, buscando así crear un sonido nuevo y emocionante de la mano de la música local tradicional y sus nuevas inmersiones en el mundo de la música electrónica.

Actualmente con base en Lisboa, ofrece presentaciones en vivo integrando sus habilidades como DJ y su experiencia como bajista llegando así a texturas contenidas con un suave pero constante groove. 

Para este relato nos brinda una selección de 99 bpms de principio a fin, con una sensación profunda, oscura y de conducción hacia los ritmos lentos y kicks contundentes que se condimentan con sus propios orígenes con sabor a folk y atmósferas ambientales para así crear un sonido púrpura.

'They sent the rocket up in December. Houston calculated that if you fly a couple of light-years west of the Milky Way, you’ll find the Tunnel. It’s a pocket of space-time that works something similar to a black hole – though with the Tunnel, gravity doesn’t lock you in; it propels you instead. The only question was to where.
They handpicked 4 of NASA’s finest. We all thought it was suicide – but I guess they didn’t care. The captain put a letter in my palm and told me to give it to his daughter on her 18th birthday. She loved the ocean, and I figured he promised her that they’d dive again when he got back home. Before I knew what to say, they were gone. Months. Years. Us, down here. Them, out there.

Eventually, they came up to the Tunnel. We could see it from the cameras on the ship. It was this swirling vortex of coloured gas. Intense lightning going off on the green edge. Then on the blue. Like the body of the universe had multi-coloured veins flaring under its skin. 
“God speed,” said NASA, and the ship moved into the gravitation field. The Tunnel slowly reeled them in. But right before they touched the mist, something sounded off on the radio. A sonic wave ploughing through a hundred million dollars’ worth of US titanium. The craft-cams, the body-cams, they all went to shit.

“Captain?” Yelled the Control.
There was static on the other end. Everyone on Earth scrambling to save the connection. 10 seconds. 20 seconds. Then, one of the screens lit up. A head-cam.
“CAPTAIN?”
There was no ship or crew. Only a man caught in the middle of all that coloured fog. You could see his hands reaching out into the empty space.
“CAPTAIN DO YOU COPY?”
The room went quiet. Jaws dropped like anchors to the floor. How couldn’t they? Seeing that massive thing swim above him like that. The length of about 20 buses sitting one in front of the other. Only this thing had a dorsal fin and a massive tail.
“Is that… A whale?”
In space you can’t hear a thing - but then this beast starts singing. Echoing these low-pitched cries and dancing in those particles of colour. The captain floated under it. Danced alongside it. And then, he held out his arm. Same way he did when he was giving me his daughter’s letter. A hand that never wanted to let go.

The whale came closer. It glowed red with electricity. Pulsating currents rippling all over its back. Finally, it holds out its tail, and the captain grabs on. Then the creature starts swimming, dragging the captain like a bullet through that Tunnel. His head-cam barely catches the whizzing beams shooting overhead. Minute after minute, light after light. 
Then the whale calls again. Deep, and endless, it cries and takes a nosedive, pulling the captain down with it.
“HOLD ON CAPTAIN!”

Before long, that whale is coming up at twice the velocity. There are tremors on the image. That thing is shaking its tail like an earthquake, breaking the captain’s grip before swimming up into the coloured light. It glows away into the distance – and now the captain is perfectly still. Suspended in the coloured nothingness. He reaches his palm out to the fading light again.
Suddenly, we lose the video feed.
“CAPTAIN,” they scream. It’s pitch black, but there are sounds still moving through the radio. Barely audible at first. Then, in the distance, we start to hear the call. An infinite void of deep frequencies and tones. It’s coming closer. Getting louder.
“CAPTAIN, WHERE ARE YOU?”

Now the song sounds close enough to swallow him whole. And then, right at the last second, right before we lose him for good, the captain puts his mouth up to the radio, a warm acceptance in his voice all those light years away. “I’m home,” he says.'
