With an illustrious career from CEO of the Irish Internet Association to the Creativity, Digitilisation and Sustainability Lead at Siemens with the many important board member roles she holds you would be forgiven for expecting someone less humorous, curious and empathetic than Joan Mulvihill. She has built a career on these traits, asking the awkward questions, connecting the dots and ensuring that no one ever forgets the individual person.
In this candid chat with WiB Global team member Henry Fenby-Taylor, Joan talks about what has shaped her into the person she is today. How she has faced adversity and loss, but come out stronger on the other side championing Critical Creative Thinking.

Women in BIM are a not for profit initiative aimed at supporting and growing the number of women in BIM and digital related roles. Our key objectives are to enable a future construction industry where diversity is no longer an issue. Our work focuses on drawing young women into BIM and digital related careers, helping to support women working on BIM projects today, championing and drawing visibility to female leaders in the BIM space in order to grow a more diverse industry. Now in our 10th year we have members and regional representation located all over the world driving this agenda. Our database of women who work in BIM and digital are aimed to support industry events in enabling more female representation. We also aim to provide information and practical advice to support industry and government address diversity issues and how this can support the digitisation of the construction industry.
