Since April 28, Colombia entered into a national strike catalyzed by a new tax reform in the midst of a brutal economic and social crisis exacerbated by the pandemic. The government tried to shift the burden of tax collection back to the middle and lower classes. Parallel to the peaceful protests, there are organized groups of criminals using the protests to incite violence and even attacking other neighborhoods. The police and military forces executed hundreds of violent acts in the demonstrations and peaceful protests that still continue and that leave to date (8.05.2021) according to Human Rights International, 43 assassinations, 105 disappeared, 160 attacks medical missions, 160 detainees, 1330 wounded and 6 cases of sexual violence. 

While this oppression is at its peak by the police and ESMAD, it is not new. Colombia is a country marked by inequality, corruption and systematic violence against the people through neoliberal policies, drug trafficking and elite mass media that manipulate and hide the truth. In a country where education and health are privileges, where opportunities are utopias and the future seems to be cancelled, people go out, people march, people are angry, people can't take it anymore. They want justice among the cases of police violence, the possibility to live with dignity (free education, accessible health system) and to live in a society in peace.

Aligned with this feeling, multiple collectives and agents of the Colombian and international culture and scene decided to unite and contribute with our art to help the victims of this oppressive government, to amplify and denounce the police barbarism and to raise our voice and resist through our art. SOS Colombia is a fist up, a cry that today becomes a collective action of musicians and visual artists presented in a compilation of techno and experimental music and also short documentaries that will expose to the world how an extreme right-wing government massacres and silences its people.

"Against the violations of human rights" , "In the absence and violence of the state. The people unite and self-manage" and "Dignity, Justice and Peace" will be the three parts of this compilation that will raise funds to give to several verified human rights organizations and self-managed initiatives that are working with the most affected populations of this crisis, that are holding the statistics of police violence and are supporting the invaluable work of the front lines in Cali, Bogota, Medellin.

PRK makes a techno he calls "organik". Since 1 year, and his beginnings in the musical production, he experiments more and more to create a raw techno, deep and soaring at the same time. It is a clever mix of jerky textures, thorny and hypnotic melodies, all on powerful and rhythmic percussions. This style is at the crossroads between rave party (hardcore, acidcore, trance...) and industrial techno. Wondercast 055 broadcasts this Sunday and we have Scottish heavyweight Duellist taking control for an hour or proper duty industrial techno.

When considering Edinburgh’s Duellist, the term heavyweight has never been more apt. A man with a firm musical education across multiple genres, he makes energetic and industrial techno his home when producing, DJing and performing live. These talents have firmly established him in the techno community, both as a contributor and a curator.

Taking his sound on the road, Duellist has performed all across Europe and made multiple excursions to Japan, evolving and firming up his sound along the way. His productions have received the support of a host of influential DJs including Slam, Carl Cox and Rebekah, releasing as he has on labels such as Decoy, Scuderia and PLS.uk. Duellist keeps his sound coherent across his output, so expect thundering drums and extreme noise all wrapped up with a firm eye on the dance floor.

Dunkle Bässe aus dem Norden by Hart'n Hans'n

clarity is a neuroscientist, foodie and raver from Canada. She had the great pleasure of raving in London's hard techno scene for a few months before the pandemic. During her brief yet full-on exposure to London rave, she frequented Jaded and FOLD, hearing first hand from hard techno titans. She became drawn to trippy, spacey yet powerful, industrial sounds that are fast and expressive. Her energy on the dancefloor, as captured in her front row Boiler Room appearances (e.g. Djrum, Yak), is present in her music and her demeanour in real life. She wishes everyone good health and well-being, and hopes to be united at the dance one day.
