“In relation to the song “Shadow and Truth”, the lyrics speak of a central theme surrounding ‘the truth’ and the urge in finding it wherever it may lie. For us, this depicts a discontentment in many people’s modern lives today, where although they are provided with everything they need, deep in our hearts we know that there will always be something lacking in living our lives the way it is . This is the ‘emptiness’ that we would like interpret from the given theme.
 
Connecting this theme to our story, we took inspiration from the highly acclaimed game, ‘Persona 5’. We would like everyone to think of our entry as a separate, parallel-dimension spin-off where post-game events connects into our own version of the story. Portraying the story of a group of high school students and related characters, our entry depicts the journey that they have started in order to find ‘the truth’ as they leave behind their mundane lives. It is only through this sudden journey where they will finally be able to find an answer to the emptiness that they have had for so long.”

“In relation to the song “Dead End”, the lyrics speak of a central theme surrounding actions that are born out of love and desire. However, many of these actions have left us to believe that the choice to do them is led by a corrupted mind controlled by arrogance, hence why we have chosen this song for R2.

As we connect the song with the story from R1, we took inspiration from the highly acclaimed game, ‘Shin Megami Tensei 4’ and ‘Shin Megami Tensei: Apocalypse’. The ‘Crownless Kingdom’ led by the arrogance of three characters from the story has resulted in the creation of a merged Metaverse where demons and angels battle. In the core of it all, the world is fueled by the energy from  ‘Datenkou’ - Daiki Tenkou’s corrupted Shadow form.”

Connected with the contents in the song “The Other Side of the Wall”, the lyrics convey a heavy focus on pushing on, rebellion, and to literally ‘cross a wall’. We would like to interpret this ‘wall’ in the song as the ‘ending’ of WON★TON’s story that is impassable and believed to be void on the other side. However, we believe that our stories truly have no end - that they will continue on as long as we keep trying to cross to the other side of the wall.

Continuing from the events of R2, the Neo Phantom Thieves comes to terms with the true mastermind - Umesaka Sheryu. Revealing that what she did was for the entertainment of the Gods, the Neo Phantom Thieves found out that they were merely actors in a ‘story’ that she had orchestrated. Though having prepared a predetermined ending for the thieves, they believe they can weave their own new story...
