In celebration of Ben Peter Zimdahl of Jarrahdale WA, Zimdahl is the first true release from Mudlark, a one and half year milestone demonstrating Mudlark’s audacious sound arrangements. 

Tracking five recordings live in studio by Nick McKenzie,  limited to two instruments, Zimdahl seeks sound as a space. With no re-amping or overdubbing, the mixing was arranged as though the band were performing live on stage, or as a canvas in front of the speakers. Using 3 guitar amps as a stereo wall of sound, and approximately 22 mics tracking percussion and guitar, allowed the duo to select the most relevant mic positions in the room.  With intentionally limited editing,  Zimdahl aims for a truly accurate rendition of Mudlark’s sound in a live application.

Gatherer is the solo project of Morgan McKellar, one-half of Canberra improv-noise duo, Cold House, and formerly of Sydney band Underlapper and his now defunct solo project Morning Stalker. He manipulates (mostly) found-sounds from audio libraries, online video, and field recordings to create improvised sample-driven, ambient/drone pieces intended for headphone use.

Kucka has been sampled by the New York Rapper A$AP Rocky, named in the top five under-the-radar Australian bands by The Guardian, and secured a slot on stage at Laneway Festival.

There has to be some sort of balance, some sort of consequence. History repeats when left uninterrupted. We learn nothing.

motion are a band that seek to explore the possibilities of experimental improvised music. Formed in Melbourne in 2008, the group is now spread across Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Their music draws on experimentalism, avant-garde jazz, left-field electronic music and more. The result is a music that deconstructs song forms, explores textural possibilities and is both hypnotic and immersive. motion have released  2 albums with the Perth-based label, Listen/Hear Collective. syllepsis sees Perth-based multi-media artist, Kynan Tan join the band to aid in the creation of a collection of music where electronics and instruments meet in a constant state of tension and release.

FATTI FRANCES 'You're Dead'

Stress Waves is both an attempt to express the romance and wonder of the post-apocalyptic entertainment of the 80′s and 90′s and an exploration of ideas put forth by bands and musicians of that era.

Lost Lustre is a collection of two tracks that were made to try out recording with an SK-5 Casio Keyboard and a third track to make use of a Casio SK-1. They started as demos to initiate working together before moving on to work with Midi-  controllers and Ableton and ended up becoming the soul of Stress Waves. The tracks were recorded in a couple of nights in an office in a house in Norman Park, Brisbane and were mixed on the bus to work, on planes, in airports and in bed. The sounds are inspired equally by musical acts such as Asylum Party and Tangerine Dream and films such as Blade Runner and Akira.
