This track is based on some custom household percussions. Then I added keyboard, effects and clarinet. I think this track captures well the feel of wandering… The video mixes google earth views with real pictures that were sleeping on my devices. I hope you enjoy! - Cheers!

I was a rather weird kid, listened to Spike Jones, Benny Goodman, fifties rock´n´ roll and my father´s jazz record collection (O.  Peterson, Bird, C. Brown, W. Montgomery etc.)
 Later I discovered Psychedelia, New wave/Punk, Japanese noise (especially C.C.C.C.), 60-70s rock classics, Debussy&Messiaen, Dub reggae, Prog (Gabriel era Genesis, Van der Graaf Generator....), vintage Beninese stuff (Orchestre Poly Rythmo de Cotonou, Gnonnas Pedro  and so on), UK Freakbeat, out-there Jazz, Bowie/Floyd bootlegs, J. Zorn, early 90s Indie, F. Zappa, antique French Pop (Dutronc, Laforet...), U. Srinivas plus labels like Delerium Records, Shimmy Disc, Japan Overseas (Osaka), RecRec music and God knows what.
Additionally, I should mention that my all time favorite Finnish album is Sperm "Shh! Heinäsirkat". Check it out!
Various literary and "cinematic" influences have molded my music.  The more predictable stuff like Surrealism, Dada, Situationism, Beats (mainly W. Burroughs) of course, but I have also been influenced by the old-school Finnish Radio Drama, Beninese "traditions", the ramblings/books by P .Levenda, Megalithic Structures&Art, the humor of H.S. Thompson, 70s-80s Eastern European Animation, Yakuza films and by the cult movies re-released by Blue Underground, Something Weird Videos, Mondo Macabro, Arrow Films and so forth. Pretty far-out stuff that could destroy your mind permanently?
 And nope, my photo is not from the 50s or from the 60´s (It was taken around 358 BC, hahaha).

This song began when I asked the rest of the guys if they'd be willing to put together a couple of songs for my father as a Christmas present. My dad is from West Virginia, and I was born there, too. The original version featured my son, Marshall, singing the lead with me. Hearing his grandson sing a song about West Virginia really meant a lot to my dad. Of course, everyone was enthusiastically generous in giving their time, effort, and skill to my family for the holiday. This song also has special meaning for JJ and Ken in relation to their fathers, as well. JJ's dad has had a rough year with his health. He also is a musician who inspired and encouraged JJ to play music. His dad also likes this song, so it was fun for him to present it to him, as well. Ken, who's father never really supported his decision to be a rock-and-roller, loves this version of the song we did, and made Ken know how proud of him he is in regard to it, which really meant a lot to Ken, too. Another cool connection Ken has to this song is that whilest attending elementary school, he was in the same school choral cohort with the legendary Maria Carey. He actually sang this song with her when they were kids. Also, we feel like we should acknowledge Artur's dog, even though Artur isn't in on this one, his dog, Waldek, loves country music and responded enthusiastically to this one.

  The story of the song itself is a little convoluted. After I asked for everyone's help, Ken laid down a rudimentary beat, to which I started the tonal part with the bass. Stephen added the guitar and banjo soon after, and I added the mandolin shortly after that. JJ inserted his piano around this time, too. We pretty much had it working enough for me and my son to sing it for my dad. Tez mixed that version perfectly suited to the occasion. 

  After presenting my dad with the present, it sat for about a month, until we asked Mark if he'd get in on it, too. Mark not only sang it better than Mr. Denver, but also arranged it so there is an instrumental break now. He also added the guitar lick at the very beginning and the auxiliary percussion throughout. Ken took the opportunity of having Mark's great vocals to sing against to add his cunning harmony to Mark's cunning harmonies. Then Mark, being the perfectionist that he is, noticed that the slide part was missing from the second verse. So, I added it. Mark also mixed this version, with Stephen doing some mastering at the end. 

  We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed putting this personally meaningful piece together.

Well, production has been down lately. Way down. It's a combo of technical issues and lack of time. Long story short, it doesn't look like I'll be posting new music for a bit. As a way to keep the flame burning, I have decided to upload a number of beats that never made the cut. There is some good stuff in here but not on the level I would like. Feel free to comment, good or bad. These are beats that I feel have potential, and I may revisit them for some additional training 😉 These guys all deserve a crack at the ball though! You never know!
