A Ballad Of Hate ist ein Woods of Birnam-Song, der für die Theaterinszenierung »Dorian« am Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus (Regie: Robert Wilson) entstanden ist. In diesem Lied geht es um die Abrechnung mit einem Despoten und die Lyrics stammen von dem Dichter Alfred Douglas, der als Liebhaber von Oscar Wilde bekannt wurde. In dem Gedicht rechnet er mit seinem Vater ab und gießt seine Wut, sein Unverständnis und dunkle Fantasien in poetische Worte, die wir in eine streicher-ummantelte Ballade gepackt haben. Eine Liedzeile in dem Song ist »I will survive you« – angepasst an die aktuelle Situation haben wir daraus »We will survive you« gemacht und wollen mit dem Lied eine friedvolle, positive, besonnene und vor allem optimistische Botschaft in die Welt setzen. A BALLAD OF HATE – für den Frieden, für ein Ende des zerstörerischen Angriffskrieges Putins in der Ukraine.

WOODS OF BIRNAM entered the music scene in early 2011 when actor and musician Christian Friedel met Uwe Pasora, Philipp Makolies, Ludwig Bauer and Christian Grochau in Dresden, Germany. 

10 years later - the band quickly evolved from an Indie pop band into a band known for writing theater music (Hamlet, Searching for William, Macbeth, 1984) and cinema music (Elser, Honig im Kopf, Babylon Berlin). 

The band’s music knows no boundaries and combines different genres to create its very own language. Their fourth and current album “How to Hear a Painting” combines old master paintings with modern pop music.
