Serenity in the Surreal

Woods of Breakspear is a one man doom metal project, influenced by such bands as Funeral, Thergothon, My Dying Bride, and Jesu, in addition to the contemporary classical works of Arvo Pärt.

Growing up neurodivergent in a neurotypical world can lead to a profound sense of otherness, of being adrift, of not having a clear sense of belonging. The consequential feelings of grief, isolation, alienation, and longing are major driving forces behind my music. My appreciation for the green spaces of Metroland, particularly those around Ruislip, informs much of the project’s imagery.

Music, in particular composition, has allowed me to express and process internal states, particularly when overwhelmed.

I am currently writing and recording songs with the aim of releasing a demo or EP in the future.
