The Woodshed is excited and honored to host an evening like none other this Saturday night, when the high energy New Orleans-esque sound of Tom Hall &amp; the Plowboys joins forces with special guest "Rev" Jeff Mosier and his banjo for a ride that can only be described as "delicious sonic madness". The Rev will get the night rolling with a few acoustic favorites and continue to ramp it up, adding musicians along the way, until Tom Hall &amp; the Plowboys take the lead, plowing ahead into uncharted territory with Mosier, adroitly in tow.

This is a group formed out of the woodshed archive project.   They have met once for a quick acoustic rehearsal, so for their second get together they are going to come in and do a two hour session with low wattage tube amps.  Thanks guys for sharing the early day (second day) with the woodshed patrons.

This talented duo, composed of Arrie Bozeman and Barb Carbon, blends tight harmonies and smart lyrics with soulful, booty-shakin' acoustic melodies to create a funk-infused blues-driven Americana sound that commands your attention from the get go. The legend of Darby Wilcox begins many years ago deep in the darkest corners of the wilderness. We know very little about Darby’s true origins as she was raised by a pack of wolves until the age of seven. Wolves are notoriously poor record keepers so details about her age or how she came to join a wolf pack as an infant are a mystery to us all. We can theorize, however, that long nights spent howling at the moon might have been key in the development of one of the most soulful voices in the music industry today.

On Thursday, October 8th, Woodshed Archive will welcome the Kenny George Band, from Aiken, SC. They’ll be making their first visit to the Woodshed and there’s no doubt that they’ll make quite an impression! They’ve been busy performing and recording this past year and are stoked to have a new live album coming out digitally in November and a new (and first) full length LP coming out sometime in the first quarter of 2016. So, their Woodshed session is sure to be full of energy and palpable excitement as the future is looking bright for this talented and hard working band.

Tune in to Woodshed Archive Wednesday, October 28th at 8pm and “you will find yourself tapping along to the sounds of the Mustache Brothers, a local treasure who perform a blend of modern and classic bluegrass. What started as a few local guys who just wanted to play some music has resulted in a full-fledged band with quite an established following. Music runs in Fred Berry Jr.’s blood. Growing up in a bluegrass family, the sounds of Tony Rice and Sam Bush resonated with Berry and eventually led to the forming of his band in 2012.

Tom Hall and the Plowboys have been around for some time.  I love the band and have many wonderful archives.   I also know Tom as an amazingly prolific song writer with great talent outside of the beautiful chaos of the Plowboys.  I challenged Tom for his artist in residence project to bring out some of those songs that he does not play often and following in the theme of the season play in a strip down format.   Dave Michelson drove the arrangement and I am excited that you will be able to hear this Thursday another side of Tom Hall and we can make sure a small number of his more personal works survive into the future as part of our collection.  ... Each of them are experienced musicians who play multiple instruments, however their specialties are banjo and guitar for Randy, fiddle for Jim, and double-bass for Dave. Marshall Brown has been recording music at home since 2010, when he released his first album, New Moons, on marshallbrown.bandcamp.com. All of the music compiled on this site over the last 6 years has been recorded on a digital 8 track recorder. The drums have mostly been tracked by Asheville drummer and close friend, Adam Mcmillan, while the other tracks have all been built with Marshall adding guitars, bass, keys, percussion, vocals, and anything else that was needed. He has developed quite a knack for bouncing tracks down and creating full, lush arrangements with minimal equipment. Many of the recordings exhibit a 60's psychedelic style made popular by The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Kinks, and many others.
