Dark hits and hooks, rolling dub breaks, and a wide cushion of flowing sub are constant through this pointed collaboration by Niko & Jonah K. From the spacious introductory beats of Antares, through its ensuing moody swagger and into a circular percussive spiral stirring up in Arcturus, an enticing vibe and bounce is established instantly and fully maintained. The two tracks seamlessly intersect, complimenting perfectly when mixed.

For reinforcement, Tamarak is brought on, packing a blinding remix of Antares. Vastness and suffocating intensity mark this one for extreme heat, true to form from this monster west coast producer.

Closing out, Pablo Splice revises Arcturus with a characteristic spin, suiting up the original parts as a frantic torrent of electro in a slow steady roller that swells to an extended beats break.

Fusion is LectrO cOd_E in top form.  The hyperactive sonic energy collisions we have come to expect from this producer have entered a new phase of intricacy, dimension, and mania.

'Scatterbrained' features a mechanical groove constructed of interconnected machine sounds and a subtle acid layer that bounces deftly between.  'Delete it!' pairs a hesitant break with a domineering sub bass crunching it together with some signature frenzied cOd_E business.  'Fusion' brings the robotic bounce and electroshock snare over a meditative background layer, leaving a steady pocket for blippy synths and white noise mayhem.  'Interference' is built on non-stop sub drones under top layer interplay that is quite minimal by LectrO cOd_E standards, resulting in an interlude which is in itself a main event.  Wrapping the package is 'Disconnected', a raucous jam kicks this one off with jaw shaking sub bass and some brilliant percussion breakdowns, perfectly setting up a second section of ultra cool variations.  For LectrO cOd_E fans, this EP delivers the goods and more... an essential release.

Detroit's Francois Dillinger delivers a powerhouse dark, rolling electro EP on Woodwork with an absolutely stacked roundup of remixers. Known for judicious use of subliminal elements, Francois Dillinger's tracks invoke suspended animation and visions of steamy psychedelic haze blurring a backdrop of neon street lights. 

'Poison Us' opens the set with a laid back spacious vibe. Stuttering kicks and claps keep the track pumping under gutteral resonant bass echoes and mysterious atmospheric swells. 

'Black or Blue' hastens the operation with determined breaks and huge ominous synth accents. Cyclical arps drag the mood into the gutter, setting up a satisfying reboot of the full groove with some added punch. 

'Replicant' exemplifies expert use of hit placement. A steady rocking break and percussive pulses push relentlessly behind vocoder echoes and dark minimal melodic pads. By this point any listener should be absolutely entranced and assimilated. 

'Ergotized' amalgamates raw synth barks and drones with textured minimal breaks. This number serves up a menacing slab of repetitive elements, working well as a meditative ambient cut, or an atmospheric mix layer. 

Fleck E.S.C. steps in with a freaky version of 'Poison Us'. A spooky suffocating barrage of dissonant string pads slices across Fleck's abstract beats... bass and kick creating a narrative with synth layer highlights that jangle, sparkle, and bounce through the syncopated punchy vibe. His added vocal phrases introduce a contextual twist. 

Pip Williams tackles 'Black or Blue' with his signature pump and punch. Restrained 303 acid through an external filter provides an infectious hook, backed up by a set of techy stabs and spacious shifting fx that bring us in and out of transitions brilliantly. 

At the summit of this monster EP, Jensen Interceptor puts 'Ergotized' on total blast with industrial and EBM elements crossing paths with heavy mid tempo breaks, dressed in modular clicks and analog drum hits. He adds some envious high wave hooks and pushes the dissonant strings one notch higher for a deeply effective powerhouse version. 

Each remixer does total justice to the original cuts, maintaining the deep trippy vibe that is essential to the music, while adding subtle but strong character points to the revamped works.

Shaun Spencer, aka Acell has been mixing since 1991, then heavily influenced by Detroit and UK techno, and began his first live gigs about a year later at The Wax Club for Heart and Soul alongside Eddie Richards , Mr C , Terry Francis , Nathan Coles , Richard Grey and ADJ.  Shaun became a regular face on the scene, going on to play in clubs such as The Dungeons , Sides and The Temple of Sound in Dublin, The SW1 Club London, Glastonbury, and with Plaid as support Dj on their 'Not For Threes' Ireland tour.

In 2001, Acell released his album 'The Bare Necessities' on Defocus Records under the moniker +One produced by Plaid. Woodwork recently licensed the track 'Yip' from this iconic album for the compilation 'Majestik Func' released in September.  In 2011 Andy Jaggers and Shaun Spencer founded The Dodo Club an Electro/Electronica Night including residents Plaid, Errorbeauty, Steve Faullkner And Pathic. In November 2019 Acell Headlined along side Wata Igarashi and the Heartheart Records Crew in Adelaide Australia and some other events in Melbourne. More recently Acell was also a regular Dj for The Planet Pluto Crew and Devon Festivals breaking into the Cornish Festival scene with his Electro and Electronica sets.  Acell has been a streaming regular on Kim Cosmik’s Hybrids events, with guest appearances on Technoclub, ADJ’s Pyramid Transmissions Show on Global Funk Radio, Tracklistings, Gated Recordings and Andy Barton's iconic Bass Agenda Radio Show.

Recent productions by Acell, include collabs with Hashira including 'M/Brane' on Bass Agenda's 'Carebots' compilation, 'Polyjargon' on Section 27's V8.0 and 'Didi' on Pyramid Transmissions Interstellar Communications 2.1 compilation.  The pair are currently working on a split EP slated for vinyl release.

Tyler Stadius returns to Woodwork for the 2nd volume of the Rekindled series, compiling a set of techno and electro numbers from the past 100 releases on the label. His set highlights some of the deeper techno sounds from artists Monika Janek, Jay Tripwire, Altitude and Hues, while simultaneously diving through the wide range of electro and breaks Woodwork has on offer, with tracks from Mr. Gentle, Replicants, Dez Williams, Forward Memory, AFT Lounge Tech, Pablo Splice, and D. Vices. The chosen selections represent the diverse taste of a seasoned DJ known globally for his ability to genuinely craft any style of mix while drawing from any available genre. This is the same approach which has structured the Woodwork catalogue and artist roster. 

The full release includes Tyler's continuous mix plus each of the tracks it contains in their original unmixed format. The Bandcamp version of the full release includes free bonus bootleg mixes not available from retail and streaming outlets.

Woodwork is ending a fierce 2021 with the honour of releasing a label compilation mixed by Vancouver legend, Tyler Stadius, who presented the first volume of this series back in 2016, marking the relaunch of the label and revisiting the releases that made up our startup years back in 1998-2001.  Tyler is deeply revered globally for his taste and talent as a scene-building, true school DJ, producer, remixer, and originator.  He graciously collected a selection of Woodwork tracks from the past 100 releases and crafted a fantastic set.  The mix, and all of the included tracks drops from Woodwork on New Year's Eve 2021. Inspired by Aldous Huxley's dystopian science fiction novel 'Brave New World', Alva Recek's Soma EP traces its theme of social hierarchy and control... where a world government tries to prevent its people from thinking and speaking freely with the use of a legal drug that is provided daily. To maintain the stability of their forcefully engineered world, authorities encourage the constant consumption of the drug Soma, ensuring the population remains passive and soothed. In the lives of the citizens, if anything should feel wrong, they have Soma to block stressful situations such as pain, grief and anger, and yet the user is completely normal, oblivious to any sort of negative side effects. Soma, supplied in its various strengths, is the perfectly tailored distraction.

The Soma EP outlines characteristics of four hypothetical variations... the softness of the white variety, the moderate dose of yellow, leading to the stronger concentration of orange and finally the ultimate effect of Soma red.

Alva Recek's roots trace back to golden era 80s & 90s hip hop and rave culture, significant backdrops to her progression from a young rapper to a dedicated producer working in numerous genres.
With past collaborations in electronica, jazz fusion and hip hop, and a track recently released on Bass Agenda, Alva comes immersed legit deep in heady electro for this debut EP.

D.Vices is back on Woodwork with a deep and dirty EP, carrying his futuristic sound ever further forward. Big Bang Theory is crafted with immaculate detail and careful attention to dynamics and creative scope. Jack Coleman's imaginative soundscapes overlay his furious signature beats and precise melodic framework which have earned him several notable chart positions with releases on various labels over the past year. This EP is packed solid with three of his strongest works to date.

The title track opens the release beautifully, setting a dark and sensual mood with edgy, tattered drum hits treated with tactile layers of noise. Robotic accents and sweet, minimal spiky synth lines create ample thematic substance. Less is definitely more as evident throughout this delectable cut.

Winding up with distant, eerie siren blasts, 'Heart Attack' delivers wicked kick-punch combinations straight off, under rapid squelching bass figures shifting up and back through stepwise changes. D.Vices' characteristic sound has never been tighter and more cohesive, referencing classic electro feels while etching his own unique tag, wielding a custom set of sonic tools.

'Ghosts' slaps with thick snares and glassy percussion hits, floating through thick liquid bass, occasionally submerged in synthetic glowing atmospheric hues. A relentless energy pushes its way through each turnaround, led by unusual filter blast effects and tempered by the ever-present spooky mood created by an overhanging synth haze.

'Ghosts' is then further subject to the freak-treatment by the one and only LectrO cOd_E. The original themes are dismantled and dressed in riveted scrap metal outer armour, transporting the same ethereal vibes, electrified and battle-ready. LectrO cOd_E's version busts out of the halfway point with a supernatural blast that eliminates everything in its path...

Opening with a psychotic grin, 'B-Love' sets up a dank backdrop of brick and bloodstains, bearing its sharpened teeth and flashing its sonic switchblades, setting a most comfortable mood of panic and constriction. 

Easing the pressure slightly wih a malevolent smile, 'Walking Free' blends the best of Fleck's relentless break styles and quirky effects manipulations, fully-loaded with inescapable synth hooks that casually seize and strangle with delicate aggression. 

'New Schedule' creeps up from behind, breathing heavy and rubbing itself on thick with stark precision bass hits and minimal chunky beats. From the outset, perpetual tension rises, occasionally releasing its grasp to toy with the victim in a tight, murderous groove. 

The EP wraps with 'Unmatched Decay', a disorienting movement that crafts psychogenic disturbances through electro-shock seizures. Infectious low end sludge bounces through it's shattering sonic space, subtly closing in as the bars clang shut.

Woodwork's inaugural release by Sunkissed presents a signature lush tribal tech house groove honed over several years of intense live performances. Wood004 Crave 01 - Microdots

Ghoti makes his debut with two techno masterpieces. Iron Lung expands angular beats twisting and shaping physical dimensions of sound and rhythm as it pumps and breathes through a repetitive but evolving array of subtle sonic changes. Peter Grove offers a relentless version of Iron Lung that represents the shifting beats in a far less subtle array of sonic mayhem. Named after a residential street in Toronto, Neepawa takes an abstract mechanical rhythm and makes it something more primal, almost child-like in nature.

Originally released on 12" vinyl, this digital version now features 3 bonus tracks that round out Ghoti's abstract rhythmic concepts and conjure up early acid influences that emerge through a detailed mosaic of minimal techno.

Wood006 Ghoti 04 - Rubble

Lectr0 c0d_E drops a hefty 6-track debut on Woodwork, with a collection of boomy electro beats. Each track builds with layers of rhythm and odd effects pushed by relentless snares and 808 kick bass that fills the mix.

The main track, 'c0d_E Violation' comes in three parts. The opening version presents a non-stop beat that opens up into pads and atmospheres toward its final measures.

'Oblivion' hits a more jackin' stride with its punchy kick pattern. Ever present are the odd little voices in the background, joined by strange synth hits that revolve around an ambiguous tonal center.

'c0d_E Violation - Mind Control' takes another tour through Lectr0 c0d_E's dirty bass snare combo, this time subjecting us to a hypnotic series of heavy synth fx layers, again hovering over beats that just refuse to quit.

'XSTATIK' provides a sonic interlude with more spacious beats and background fx textures. The vibe on this one rides low with occasional breakdowns, but maintains the momentum and mesmerizing flow of the EP.

'Zone 6' plays like a menacing remix / mashup of the other elements of the release. The beats are slower, joined by a few recognizable sounds from the other tracks. Again some of the major themes are saved until the end of the tune, where we are subject to some acid synths and repetitive bleeps until we are just cut off and left hanging.

'c0d_E Violation - Overcharged' busts out like the cleanup crew, wiping the slate with a clean version of Lectr0 c0d_E's booming breaks including some refreshing variations. The effect layers in the EP closer build and layer hypnotically, cementing the overall feel of this collection.

Lectro cOd_E - cOd_E Violation (wood048 preview)

Solidifying a productive year with dozens of releases, the Droid aka Ben Evans, marks his Woodwork debut with a power packed EP of intriguing electro tracks, delivering monstrous remixes alongside.

Opening with 'paranoia', the Droid's style immediately becomes apparent in its minimalist sonic landscape. Framed in classic 808 rhythms, Evans hits a quirky, abstract nerve with aggressive bass hits and resonant LFO synth tweakery. A solid mix layer, serving as a constant energetic ride.

The title cut, 'rewire the system' offers up the same punchy beat foundation and gets a little deeper, with breaks trading off against four-to-the-floor. The retro flavour of the pads and cosmic flow of various swells, miniature funky bass lines and anguished robo-vocalizations perhaps portray a machine striving toward a more human experience.

Mr. Gentle steps up for the first altered version and gets straight into dramatic sci-fi territory while maintaining the original spaciousness of the Droid approach. He succeeds in taking the beats to an alternate energy level while implementing some ominous breakdowns and infectious acid work to further the plot line of the track.

We are in for a noticeably trippy excursion as Francois Dillinger takes the helm. The 808 feel is drastically withdrawn and chill, with a rolling, funky resolve that perfectly sets up the smoky tapestry of psychedelia over top. The bass and atmospherics are drawn out to an expansive harmonic rhythm somewhere between deeply groovy and completely zoned-out.

The Droid meets Pablo Splice for 'beat the machine'. The two combine opposing aesthetics to craft a unique hybrid contraption from spare parts. The Droid's cycling repetition and minimalist sound design are on lock over his familiar 808 stylings. Pablo Splice counters this with a characteristic, snaky, atonal stab melody underpinned by a complimentary mid-range bass line, with both elements achieving a brash, down-sampled, digital edge.

Lloyd Stellar crafts an impressive thematic rework of 'beat the machine' that features a relentless upbeat swagger - a proper battle workout for the floor. Expanded sonic movement in the bass, twisted harmonic pad variations, tough and punchy blips, urgent vocoder verses, and a massive anthemic section of rave hits, keep this catchy remix moving through exciting revelations from start to finish.

The Droid saves a profound statement for the end with his 'amen experiment'. This unique track recalls a laid back 808 feel, similar to the previous Francois Dilinger workout, but then treats this to subtle ambient chord shifts behind some carefully layered breakbeats. These elements clash and combine wonderfully, ending this EP in an absorbed but lucid mood.
