NELL

Nell (Hangul: 넬) is a South Korean modern rock band. Formed in 1999, the band consists of Kim Jong-wan on vocals, guitar and keyboard, Lee Jae-kyong on lead guitar, Lee Jung-hoon on bass guitar and Jung Jae-won on drum. The group was named after the movie, Nell, that starred Jodie Foster. The band is known for their gloomy and psychedelic sound, and gained their fame with tracks like "Stay" from Let It Rain, "Thank You" from Walk Through Me, "Good Night" from Healing Process and "Time Walking On Memory" from Separation Anxiety. Nell has recently released The Gravity Trilogy, consisting of ‘Holding onto Gravity’, ‘Escape Gravity’ and not yet release new album.

The undertone of the song is gloomy and chaotic, but it somehow also shows hope through the instruments, the whispering, and the shouting. The song is contradictory, for it finds hope in despair, it soothes while depresses; for it presents light in darkness; for it shows peace in chaos, it presents beauty in suicide

Nell has set up the public to expect good to great stuff and the band consistently delivers on that promise. This album expands Nell’s approach to music, as well as moving indie music further. No small feat, but Nell was the one to do it.
