A rat trap is an unpleasant or restricting situation. Sometimes we set traps in order to protect ourselves from danger. Other times we can feel like traps, directly or indirectly, are set in order for us to fail.  Either way we accept the challenge, and do whatever we can to succeed in that moment. 

After two years away from music, I wrote this song as a creative outlet during this unexpected pandemic. My inspiration for this song came from my own struggles, as well as the struggles of those around me. Those who have been courageous enough to face their storm head on will be able to relate to the lyrics.  Like MJ said, “ Always turn a negative situation into a positive situation. Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.”

Each and every one of us has an authentic story to share. How we express our story, and who we wish to share it with, is a decision we all have to make. When you think about your own story, what events and themes come to mind? What accomplishments and setbacks transformed you into the person you are today? Who has been with you through it all since the very beginning?

My story begins with my mom, Donna. The woman who raised me and helped me become the person I am today. A strong, faithful, selfless woman who played the role of both mom and dad in my life since my father passed away before I was born. This song is dedicated to YOU because of your unconditional love and support. Thank you!
