I wrote this song with my friend Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon.  REO did record it and it ended up a bonus track on "The Essential REO Speedwagon" compilation.  My niece Kelly Ferro (nee Moulik) sang the vocal.

I wrote this song with Johnny Van Zant right after the Twin Towers fell on 9/11.  Johnny called me, in shock, and we talked for a while, and this song came out of that.  It was released shortly thereafter as a benefit.

Another blast from the past circa 21+ years ago.  December 12, 1981 found Survivor's FIRST top 40 Billboard hit, "Poor Man's Son" peaking at #33 and found Casey Kasem telling a quick story on the band and again getting Jim's name incorrect.

This song goes back to the year that the motion picture "Armageddon" was released. 

I had a fast track to the music supervisor and with a bit of lyrical help from Steve Salzman I created the track that is being premiered for the first time right here. 

The movie supervisor loved it but it got crossed out by the excellent Diane Warren song that a little band from Boston recorded. I think they were called Aerosmith.

Armageddon

From the 2005 "County Stage" show at Chicago Street Theatre in Valparaiso, IN.

Series promoter Paul Braun had asked Jim if there was any way to perform the song at the upcoming show as it was one of his favorite Survivor tracks.  Jim asked Toby Hitchcock of Pride of Lions to learn the song, which he did the day before the show.

The result was a powerful, raw performance.  Given the fact that this was the first time Toby had ever sung the song with Jim, and he had only learned it the day before, nobody cared that there were a couple of bobbles.  The overall soul of the song was what came shining through.

Demo of a song written for Sammy Hagar, featuring Chicagoan Jeff Boyle on the duet vocal.  Sammy loved the song, but never recorded it.  Joe Lynn Turner, of Rainbow and Deep Purple fame, did record it though for his 2009 Sunstorm album "House Of Dreams".
