I recorded the lead guitar in 2018; it was 20 minutes long. I shortened it to this track, which is still almost 5 minutes long. The lead guitars still have effects, which I don't mind too much because I like that sound. You can still adjust it with EQ and reverb. I edited my vocals in Moises' studio until I was satisfied.
A female voice can also be heard in certain phrases, which adds a bit more depth.
There are still some deep-side sounds in the vocals. I cut most of them out.
The drums, bass, and piano were recorded with Ujam and had to be adjusted with plugins. You can also hear choir vocals, bells, synths, and water effects.

If I Could Tell You Something - John Hardman

This song is my way of riding through the darker highways of my past and present—the parts of me that carry scars, secrets, and regrets I don’t always let the world see. It’s about the weight we carry when pain turns inward, when mistakes follow us like shadows, and when we feel like redemption is always just out of reach. 

The line “hurt people hurt people” became the heart of this song. I borrowed it directly from Melissa Etheridge’s powerful documentary I’m Not Broken and her song “A Burning Woman.” When Melissa sang those words for the women she met and captured their stories with such compassion, it cut straight into me. It was like she gave language to something I’d always known but never had the courage to admit out loud—that I’ve been both the one hurt and the one doing the hurting. 

Watching I’m Not Broken was an emotional punch. I laughed, I cried, and I saw myself in those women—broken, self-medicating, sometimes reckless, sometimes just trying to survive. In my younger years, I could have easily ended up where they did, and Melissa’s message of compassion and healing reminded me that broken doesn’t have to mean lost. 

So this song isn’t just about pain—it’s about honesty. It’s about facing the ghosts that ride beside you, owning the mistakes carved into your skin, and still searching for some kind of mercy down the road. It’s my confession, but also my reminder that we’re all fragile, we’re all human, and music has the power to shine a light even on the darkest highway.

Through my music, I seek to capture the essence of this lost era, particularly the turbulent times around 2070, when humanity's fate hung in the balance. Each song is a journey through time, a sonic exploration of the apocalyptic moments when everything changed, guided by the haunting melodies and atmospheric soundscapes that paint a vivid picture of a world on the brink of collapse.
As I wander through the abandoned streets and desolate landscapes, I find inspiration in the remnants of human culture - the unfinished symphonies in empty concert halls, the silence that hangs heavy in recording studios where hit songs were once crafted. The music becomes a conduit for the stories that linger in these spaces, tales of dreams pursued and hopes shattered.
In the rhythms of nature reclaiming the cities, I hear a powerful message - that all things must pass, that even the grandest of human achievements are impermanent. This truth resonates through my compositions, serving as a reminder of our own fragility and the need for humility in the face of the universe's vast mysteries.
