Inspiré notamment par les contes populaires nordiques et germaniques, par l’art de Dürer, Brueghel, Goya, Doré et Topor, Hoel von Helvet représente dans ses gravures et ses dessins un monde peuplé d’êtres humains, de créatures fabuleuses et d’étranges chimères qui participent à l’élaboration d’une atmosphère singulière, à la fois inquiétante et mystérieuse. L’univers onirique dépeint dans ses œuvres est renforcé par la présence d’une nature équivoque. La végétation exubérante laisse place parfois à des paysages désolés dans lesquels les personnages sont en proie à d’inexplicables puissances. Ancien membre de Yersinia Pestis et Techno Thriller , il travaille actuellement sur un nouveau projet solo inspiré de son univers pictural.
