Afrofuturist, London born and of Yoruba descent, seigfried komidashi is anarcho-Blackness, experimentation and exploration.

komidashi works with nature, sound, and space; immersing himself in a process of learning and unlearning, drawing inspiration from the beauty and chaos of the world around us.

A classically trained saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist, his artform began to take shape when he saw musical notations come to life on and off the page, introducing him to the idea of playing with classical forms and transforming them into something otherworldly.

This month Ahu is joined by Pierre-Alexandre Busson aka Yuksek, French dj, singer, songwriter and composer. Yuksek has released four albums of his own and did many remixes & collaborations including Gorillaz, Moby, The Prodigy, Phoenix, Bertrand Burgalat and many more. He also produces soundtracks for films and series. On this months show Ahu plays her favourite tracks from him and Yuksek plays a dj set that reflects his love of brazilian, disco and house music.

He joins Ahu for a guest mix on this month's show.

Hour of Light is hosted by Ahu, Istanbul-based cult singer, DJ and songwriter.

This month Ahu's guest is singer, actress and Film Noir's front woman Josephine de la Baume. Expect to hear an in depth chat and Ahu's take on 60s 70s French music especially soundtracks.

Film Noir is a Paris-based rock band, born in 2018. Fronted by the de La Baume siblings (Joséphine et Alexandre), along with Martin Rocchia, Victor Le Dauphin and Guillaume Rotier.

Vertiges (Men of Glory) their first EP, crafted between Los Angeles et Paris, came out in September 2019, gathering critical acclaim and entrain the prestigious playlists of France Inter, BBC6 and French national TV.

Their second EP, Tendrement, produced by Samy Osta (Juniore, La Femme, Feu! Chatterton) released in June 2020, confirmed their breakthrough in a rough and sensitive mix of french and english hailed by the French and international press (NME, L’Officiel USA, DIY Magazine, Gigwise).

For their next release, @sofrito take us to the Côte D'Ivoire with a deep hybrid of soukous and highlife, recorded in Abidjan in 1975 by the mysterious Bazaré D. Pablo. Thumping percussion, generous shakers, intricate guitar, ethereal vocals and a solid bassline add up to a frenetic and energetic hip-shaker.

Bazaré D. Pablo et Orchestre - Nassima (Worldwide Premiere)

Guido Minisky and Hervé Carvalho make up Acid Arab, the Parisian-based duo who combine a love for acid house with the sounds and cultures of the Middle East. It's a fusion that runs deeper than just uniting a western beat with an eastern sample; they blend Arabic musical language and analogue techno devices, to create a unique form of dance music.

Starting life as a concept, Acid Arab morphed from a Facebook group to a party and now releases records and compilations that pays homage to their unique amalgamation of sounds and textures. Following a series of compilations and V/A EPs on Versatile Records, Guido and Hervé return to the label with their first solo EP titled Djazirat El Maghreb. A tribute to North African music, the three-track release looks to three countries in the region and with 'Halfa (Instrumental)', the focus falls on Algeria. The track also features Algerian keyboard artist Kenzi Bourras, who plays live with Acid Arib and comes packed with an alaoui beat, traditional to a lot of old chaabi songs and familiar to any new fans of Omar Souleyman.
