This is a short snippet of "Nothing at All" by The Walk Off, before, and after mastering. When they came to me, their immediate request was "Give us the sound of 'Nevermind'!" (Nirvana, '91)

So, I essentially listened to Nirvana and a series of similar bands, picked out what I really felt gave them their own special *Sparkle* and whipped it all together into the Walk Off's master for their EP: "A Likely Story".

Master Sample: Sometime - The Walk Off

This is a short snippet of "Surprise Me" by The Walk Off, before, and after mastering. With this song, I spent a lot of time ensuring that while the bass was big and punchy enough to support the main motion of the song, while also taking care to allow the entire song to 'breathe' as a cohesive work. This resulted in a master that has a nice bit of tape-like fuzz to it without losing the richness of that classic alternative-rock bass.
