AOS 00? - Autarkic & Hectik - Kippur In Kyoto

Things hadn't come easy for her, everything she had she'd worked tirelessly for. Since childhood she'd had no help or hand outs; she brought herself up, she was her own parent, teacher, brother and sister. Not many people knew how hard life had been for her in the past, it was something she'd chosen to keep to herself. It wasn't through embarrassment or shame, she was proud of her journey and how she'd got to this point, but she believed that if people were to judge her, it could only be based on the person she was today.

Unrealistic Electronics is a brand new label birthed in Spain. For their first release they've called on some of their favourite music minds to set the tone for what can be expected from their camp in future. The eponymous compilation features 10 tracks from artists across the globe who are exploring the worlds of minimal wave, electro and punk-tinged electronics. Each artist brings their own distinct take on these raw, DIY sounds including the likes of Florian Kupfer, Das Ding, Beau Wanzer, Maoupa Mazzocchetti and Anna Funk Damage.

Funk The System! The recipe is simple: Dig deep, listen to your heart, record everything you got on a dusty old desktop computer, leave it to simmer for the time of a pandemic, and if it’s still fresh, serve it up on the finest plate of black wax!

This collaboration started in Düsseldorf in the year 2018. Locked up for a week in the Flanger Studios, Wolf Müller and Credit 00 recorded everything: from the jaw harp to smartphone apps, chopping up GDR Jazz breaks and squeezing the Funk out of every synthesizer and drum machine at hand. 

You will hear the open mindedness towards all sorts of musical influences from the first note. Each of the five tracks showcases a wild mix of flavours: Disco Reggae, B-Girl Breakbeats, Protest Folk, Subway Funk, Tabla Rhythms, you name it... they’ll take it and shake it! It is obvious these two got sonically socialized and educated by the multiculturalism of Hip-Hop in their early days.

After the first Recording Session, the tracks fermented for some time until they were cracked open again. This time in Leipzig at Credit 00’s Westend Workshop. That’s also where Rizmi from Birmingham joined the team and lent her voice to the title track. She reinterpreted the lyrics of the obscure German 1980s Workers’  Rock Song, that Wolf digged out for the Intro Skit of „Funk The System“.

In the game since the very beginning, the Sonic Groove label-head has dedicated years to his craft and they’re all on display here with slick, classy productions that punch through the speakers to move bodies and minds.

Dutch electronic music pioneer Das Ding's late night modular jam on Vortex Traks. Danny Bosten has been making music since the early 1980s releasing his music and friends' music via his own cassette label called Tear Apart Tapes. Since the H.S.T.A. album on Minimal Wave Das Ding has been actively touring and releasing music on numerous underground labels.
