I was asked by Daniel Blumin of WFMU to choose a track that I loved when I was young and still resonates with me. I picked my first encounter with stereolab and krautrock: stereolab's blue milk.

I build a small prototype for a monophonic cassette-mellotron.
Here is a small sample using three speeds, I synched the tape loop with the pitch events using the doepfer a-100 system

last year I was asked to do a gig at the lovely (f)luister afternoons in Dordrecht (NL). unfortunately I dropped my tape recorder which was then broken beyond repair. Frustrated I left the recorder at the venue. One of the people also playing that night (machinefabriek) took the tape from the recorder (with snippets of rehearsals and the gig I played earlier). Together with snippets of tapes from later rehearsals I tried to reconstruct what the (f)luister gig would have sounded like.

Wouter van Veldhoven creates music, instruments and installations. Most of it has the following ingredients: taperecorders, toy-instruments, lots of hiss, nostalgia and moving parts. Old means, new music.
