김혜수 - 색채의 블루스 (모던보이OST)

팝 CD에서도 김동욱은 음악 역사의 한 페이지를 장식하고 있는 위대한 아티스트들의 노래를 그만의 색깔로 부르고 있다. 전설적인 흑인 재즈 아티스트 루이 암스트롱의 불멸의 명곡 ‘What A Wonderful World’, 로큰롤의 황제 엘비스 프레슬리의 ‘It's Now Or Never’ 등이 때론 진지하게, 때론 장난기 넘치듯 유쾌하게 부르고 있다. 
이미 대중들로부터 많은 사랑을 받은 곡들이라서 부담이 가고, 신경이 쓰일 법도 하지만, 김동욱은 오히려 더욱 대담하게 거장들의 우산 속으로 들어갔다. 존 레논하면 떠오르는 평화의 노래 ‘Imagine’, 지난 1991년 세상을 떠난 보컬리스트 프레디 머큐리가 이끌었던 그룹 퀸의 히트곡 ‘Too Much Love Will Kill You’, 록 기타의 거장 지미 헨드릭스의 ‘Little Wing’ 등은 김동욱만의 느낌으로 재탄생했다. 단순한 모방이 아닌 자신만의 목소리로 새롭게 만들어낸 것이다.
