"Cymatique" (english, Cymatics) is the visual result of the interaction of sound waves with individual matter. In a sudden harmony, waves at given frequencies can form symmetrical patterns and recognisable shapes. Cymatics makes the invisible world of sound waves visible to us.

In the computer age, as tech bros insist life can be fully experienced within a simulation, I turn to this recording and find myself appalled to agree with them. Youknow took the time to light a dance floor made of mp3 bitstreams rushing, as 90’s nostalgia waves come crashing, you find yourself traveling to a wobbly wireframe forest. The colors and memories are for you to paint on this canvas ripe for the trance settler. As always, some tracks defy genre expectations, the spectrum between trance, bass and acid seem to widen, feels like zooming on a fractal... Cheers.

But this one turned into a never-live-played set. That’s a risk to take when organising a rave. It was still dear to me to share this with its imperfections but I had fun digging and mixing this, back to some aciiiid roots and some bangers. (I cannot hide my Naarm scene influences!)

An opening set usually gives one lots of freedom to try out some weird stuff that’s not for everyone’s ears, legs, or taste. Playing not so much for the few people on the dancefloor at the time but for the hidden forest creatures in the shadows, I may have gone a bit gloomy here and there, despite the unusually sunny day in the Amsterdam woods. It was all meant to give a little sonic rinse for the ears of the newcomers, sweeping in highs and lows through the domains of time, frequency and emotion.

The last stop of the @wp-frequencies love train through Bulgaria this summer was in Sofia - in the whimsical lair of Equipaж Studio, where we unpacked a rainbow of genres and emotions, in line with our eclectic CHORBA concept.

A dear old-time friend and a beautiful soul, Dl. Bob traversed the Dobruja plane from the very motherland of Rominimal to bless us with this heart-warming and body-moving set, injecting a positive energy that negated any exhaustion among us.

still dragged through a slipstream.
