The Winnipeg Jazz Collective is a collection of ten of Winnipeg’s best emerging young jazz musicians, a mix of graduates of Manitoba’s jazz programs at Brandon University and the University of Manitoba. Featuring works primarily composed and/or arranged by members of the group, the Winnipeg Jazz Collective is inspired by Canadian composers such as Rob McConnell and Phil Nimmons. The Winnipeg Jazz Collective has the presence of a big band with the flexibility of a small group, featuring contemporary, swinging arrangements along with impressive soloing.
