Arto Lindsay first archived recognition in the legendary no wave band DNA, which features on the highly influential No New York compilation produced by Brian Eno. His distinctive atonal guitar and vocals defined records with The Lounge Lizards, The Golden Palominos, and Ambitious Lovers, his pop/samba/noise project with Peter Scherer. Raised in Brazil, where he has lived since 2004, Lindsay's life and work engage extensively with this background, especially his recent solo records, which fuse gentle sounds with the aggressive. He has collaborated with such artists as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Animal Collective, and John Zorn. He is also an accomplished producer, having worked on albums with David Byrne, Caetano Veloso, Marisa Monte and many others.
