Originally a hip hop producer, L-Side’s brand of minimal Drum and Bass has already seen his Brainstorm EP featured on the all-new Chronic imprint. Now, after dropping the stunning Turbulence EP with DJ Andrezz, L-Side is back on his own with So High / Riddim Dancer. 

Featuring the sophisticated vocal talents of MC Fava, So High demonstrates just how far L-Side has come, with uplifting, soaring melodies paired with a warm bassline nailing the classic V Recordings vibe. ‘Riddim Dancer’ sees L-Side revisit his natural talent for making dancefloor filth, with the legendary Ragga Twins turning up the heat on another classic L-Side, V Recordings production. Featuring two different sides to the same exciting producer, L-Side continues to make a name for himself on one of the most important, pioneering labels in the scene.

The name Chroma has echoed through the drum and bass community since their output as a collaborative project. 
Individually, they’ve already been hosted by a number of pronounced record labels, being met by critical acclamation from across the business. But returning to underground tastemaker Program, Chroma’s next production will resonate in your minds for a while. Their style has ensured longevity, whilst dipping into the futuristic sounds that makes contemporary drum and bass so forward thinking. And trust us, this one is no different.
Rolling out first is ‘201 Dub’ which highlights the trios consistency at putting out heartfelt bass-slabs that can reach an intimidating depth of musicality. Plucky, powerful and precisely laid out, this track leaves a lasting impression for the whole release. Beginning with a skit that lays beneath its structure, you’re instantly aware of the ragga-style vocal that fades between carefully constructed beat patterns. Enticing you further into the mix, its driving pace never fluctuates yet continuously holds the wraithlike vibe which Chroma seem to conjure seamlessly.  
A record that quivers with power and with a bassline that reverberates throughout, ‘Sovereign’ continues with the same authority. At times you’re caught unaware by its drifting humanism and the slight nod to the record’s softer elements. This track opens their repertoire like a door, with the insistent kick of drums and skip of sample which weaves between loops of the amen break.  Peppered with dynamic riff patterns, commanding your attention, the record is broken up by thoughtful breaks. As a result, they give you time to reflect on the versatility that Chroma is renowned for.
Going beyond the prototype and establishing themselves as a formidable force within the genre, this isn’t the last you’ll hear from the trio.

Winter is coming as Icicle returns to the fore with his sophomore album, ‘Entropy’, released November 17th through Shogun Audio. Delivering his most developed and ferocious music to date, Icicle unleashes a tirade of bass weight, ready to blow the eyes and ears of the electronic music world into next year. Leaning from grime infested urban electronica through to emotionally charged trip hop and full on trademark sci-fi drum & bass, the resulting ‘Entropy’ is one of the most prime and compelling examples of hybrid dance music yet seen in 2014.

“My first album 'Under The Ice', was an attempt to showcase my influences and where I came from musically, it was in a sense retrospective. This new album is more of a look into what I think the future of this sound could be. The term ‘Entropy’ means a ‘state of disorder’ or 'measure of chaos' which I felt was a great metaphor for how my production style has evolved, diversified and developed over the years.

While the cinematic interludes lay out a path of ever increasing entropy, I've drawn in vocals from some of my favourite MC’s, Skittles, SP:MC and Foreign Beggars’ Metropolis alongside the very talented Sarah Hezen to join the dots between the energetic and the more musical moments. ‘Entropy' is a statement as to my personal progress in musicality and technique, and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.” Icicle

‘Ten Years of Med School’ celebrates the plethora of talent to have emerged over the past decade showcasing snapshots of the imprint’s most memorable releases alongside hints of an even brighter future. Originally the understated sister label of Hospital Records, Med School is now a standalone soldier playing a significant role in electronic music, scouring every hidden corner of drum & bass and beyond.

The release showcases 18 brand new and exclusive tracks, including some stunning remixes of the label’s finest moments. Ivy Lab lead Etherwood’s uplifting ‘We’re Nothing Without Love’ down a more ominous path while Kimyan Law strips down Royalston’s drum crazy ‘Jungle Gone Down’. Frederic Robinson injects a cloud-like bounce into Keeno’s ‘Nocturne’ and Bop gives ‘Pray’ by The Erised a stunning 170bpm rework.

The album also features a host of new creations and collaborations. Etherwood and Royalston prove that opposites attract on ‘Eyes On Me’ which brilliantly combines subtle, soulful overtones with a dark, metallic allure. Newest Med School recruit Whiney presents the deep, melancholic magic of ‘Nightfall’ while label veteran Lung returns with the energetic ‘To Infinity & Be Gone’. SCAR return to the label for the first time since the release of their debut album, ‘The Orkyd Project’, with a 4 track EP entitled ‘The Wrong Side’ which without doubt highlights some of the duos best work yet.

Naomi Pryor, whose voice featured strongly across the album, takes the lead on the title track with some haunting but playful vocals, whilst SCAR have also invited the legendary 2 Bad Mice to put their own unique stamp on ‘The Wrong Side’.

‘Make Em Know’ shows further versatility in SCAR’s work and is guaranteed to be favourite on the dancefloor in the years to come. Rounding off the EP is ‘Beside Me’ with another vocalist you may remember from ‘The Orkyd Project’ – Eleanor Higgins. Alongside her wonderful voice is Ben Hadwen on saxophone and flute duties, bubbling over to create one of the jazziest pieces of drum and bass you’re likely to hear in a while.
