As many of you know, the pandemic hit just before our 9-year anniversary celebration in March of last year. We're still here and waiting patiently for that moment when we can dance together again in person. In the meantime, this month marks the 10 year anniversary of Ron Like Hell & Ryan Smith kicking off Wrecked. We didn't want to pass on the opportunity to celebrate all the good times had with each other over the years. On March 20th - which also happens to be the Spring Equinox - we took over The Lot Radio for a 4 hour livestream. This mix is here for you. Nita is a noted member of the legendary House of Aviance and brought a much needed new energy to New York’s sound when she started DJing in the early 2000s and while as a resident of Mr. Black & Westgay, both truly notorious in New York’s club history. Currently she can be heard as one half of The Carry Nation at their monthly residency at Good Room, Battle Hymn and many touring dates around the globe.

With this mix for the Ever Afters 2023 campout, I wanted to help set the stage (literally) for the lineup that Envelope booked for the Yurt. This took three forms: lesbian soundsystem music to establish dancing in that room as a norm (prog); dark and percussive and carnal tracks to open the gates for wider tempos and sonic palettes (dnb); and experimentally-focused pieces to acknowledge the history of the Yurt as a site of primarily ambient casting (experimental ambient). It works best I think if you imagine yourself in the depths of the California midlands, huddled under swerving UFO lights as the hours from 3-5am careen by 🖤
