FROSTWEAVER  A Tale By Arachnid

The man sat at his post as he did every morning until nightfall. A temple guard, his duty was simple: keep watch, maintain order, ensure the ancient site remained respected—even if the temple itself was barely holding together anymore. Cracks laced through its stone walls like old scars. Somewhat together, he thought dryly.

The temple was one of the oldest in the Old World, and the New Imperium believed places like this still held some dormant power waiting to be harnessed. His orders were to guard it until that power revealed itself—if it ever did.

The winds were unusually fierce today, even for the snowy Himalayan mountains. He could barely see fifty feet ahead. The temple chimes swung violently in the wind, ringing in a rhythmic, hypnotic pattern that almost lulled him into a trance. Almost…

A flash of light in the distance snapped him back. He blinked hard. Probably just a trick of the storm, he told himself. But an uneasy feeling crawled up his spine. He rose from his seat and stared into the blizzard.

Through the curtain of white, he saw what looked like a massive silhouette—eight-legged, spiderlike. The storm distorted its shape, but whatever it was, it was moving toward him. Fast.

Heart pounding, the man grabbed the iron spike at his side and braced himself. He could hear it before he could truly see it—heavy steps crunching through deep snow, echoing unnaturally through the mountains despite the howling wind.

But when the figure finally emerged from the storm, he froze.

Standing thirty feet away was not a beast, but a small woman—no taller than five feet—her head bowed, arms folded, dressed in layered furs of beige and white. Her skin was nearly the color of snow. No traveler had come to this temple in years, and certainly not someone like her. Something was wrong. Very wrong.

He lifted his spear toward the sky.
“STOP! Who are you?”

The wind seemed to still for her.
“Frostweaver” she answered, her voice echoing through the storm.

This project came started simply as a means of processing. I didn't intend to originally release it as a collective project, but seeing as it all is representative of a time in my life. I figured it would paint more of the mindset and vision I had when wiritng these songs. I wanted to try and keep this one really personal, just raw emotion and heavy low-end. I hope you dig it :)
