A little nostalgic for the time I lived in Japan recently. This was one of my favorite songs to listen to while I was there. Shinsei Kamattechan and Noko are big influences on the music I make now. This instrumental is leftover from the sessions from my new album, and I found it sounded perfect with this song's melody. Also gave me a chance to practice my Japanese pronunciation again! Maybe it's cliche to like this song? idk. But it's always meant something to me. Adele didn't write it from the perspective of a feminine AMAB nonbinary person who really wants a boyfriend but has been rejected by each one they'e ever confessed feelings to, but the lyrics really relate to me on that level? Weird how music works that way. "I guess she gave you things / I couldn't give to you" will always stick with me. Sometimes I feel that I'm a risk or an unknown or a burden to love, and that most cis ppl I feel something towards can always find a "safer" alternative as a romantic partner to me in another cis person. Ah well. If only I lived near more romantically available trans people.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A cover of one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. I view it as an epilogue to my upcoming album, ODDBIRD. It represents the state of mind I'm currently in, which I think is positive compared to where I was when I wrote the songs on the album. I'm still anxious, but I understand more about why. With that clarity, I'm hoping I'll be able to find ways to cope and make my own little happy bubble in this vast, chaotic, scary world.
