My submission for OOOSC#4.
Oatmeal vsti mostly. An old discontinued free synth from 2008. Cept for some battery percussion and miloslav philharmonic for the brass and piano near end. I wanted to use real instruments but the weird set of notes I used works best in Oatmeal.

Richard Semper - If Only (Remake)

This release was created for the Out of One Synth Challenge. I say created: the challenge was to revisit an old track so this is a remix of the very first track I ever 'completed' way back in 2020. The percussion and arp are new additions and the vocal has been tarted up a wee bit.

For OOOSC#4. A remake/reinterpretation of the first track i ever wrote for VSTs. 
Steppe was originally composed in December 2017, when I had just learned what a VST was but still didn't know what a DAW was. I composed it in musescore and recorded it using VSThost and a collection of free plugins and samples.
Almost 8 years later, i've learned a lot more about the technical side of music production and grown a little in my composition skills as well. The original piece is largely unchanged, just produced differently and with a few layers added in the repeat.

Arctic Wadger (2025)

For this OSC Any Synth Challenge, I chose the PS-3300, a beautiful software emulation of a late 1970s analogue polyphonic synthesizer from KORG. Cherry Audio developed this soft synth. Every sound you hear was created using the PS-3300. I tried to create an overall sound that matches the capabilities of a studio production in 1978. This is in honour of this beautiful synthesizer and its creators.

Single synth of choice: Kult (Dawesome)

Each autumn, when the heather turned purple on the hills, the bagpipers came down from the highlands. At first, the village children heard only a faint drone, like the earth humming underfoot. They would freeze in their games, eyes wide, and scramble up into the oak trees to see better.

The sound grew, weaving and swelling, until it filled the valley like a storm of music—low drones rolling like thunder, sharp notes flashing like lightning. By the time the pipers emerged from the misted slopes, it was no longer a handful of men but an orchestra carried on the wind itself.

The villagers gathered in silence, listening. Year after year, the same mystery unfolded: a reminder that the mountains still breathed, and that the world above the clouds sent down its song to be heard.
