My upbringing was saturated with religion, but I had always struggled with faith.  I got kicked out of a christian rock band in my early-20's and completely gave up on religion a couple of years later.

I wrote this while listening to the audiobook version of Cormac McCarthy's 2006 novel, "The Road", just before he died on 13 June 2023.
