Alfonso Muchacho's Podcast - Episode 156 December 2023

Greg Elliott has been DJing for a hobby since 2002, just a few years after falling in love with the progressive sounds of that era, idolizing DJs like Sasha and John Digweed, along with other DJs discovered though the Global Underground mix series.  During the height of the COVID pandemic, he decided to get more serious about it, and took online classes at Tim Penner's True Peak Sound School, and in February of 2021, started posting 
three hour mixes monthly to SoundCloud.  In March of 2022, he decided to start streaming on Twitch, and now tries to maintain a regular livestream schedule despite his day job as an electrical engineer.

Once again it is time for my year-end rewind, featuring tracks from the year's other episodes of Stratospheric Sounds.  Sticking with a precedent that I started last year, I played this set during one of my Twitch streams while recording for this SoundCloud post.  In this case, the stream was on Thursday, December 28, 2023.  Like last year's rewind set, I intended for this to be a 4-hour set, but viewer interaction prompted me to go longer.  After a few minor studio tweaks to the recording, here is the final result.

We are starting off 2024 of the Amplified series strong, with an amazing and primarily producer set by Toronto/Hamilton duo Oak and Hammer, which consists of Spencer Lee and Nick Lelièvre. 
They joined forces in 2019 and immediately drew the attention of major labels and djs with their unique sound focusing on powerful and expressive elements across the melodic spectrum. I'm not one for DJ bios at all. How many times have you read about someone talking in the third person about having "shared the same stage as [namedrop]", or "played at [namedrop]"?

Sure I could talk about all the years I've been involved in the electronic music scene - as a dj, producer, promoter, and fan. I could talk about some of the gigs I've been lucky to play in places other than my hometown, or some of the big shows I've properly opened up for. I could also go on about the few tracks I've produced for a few decent labels, or the radio show I've been stubbornly doing for over seven years. So what?

Wouldn't you rather figure out what I'm about through my mixes and tracks I put up on Soundcloud? Or the events I play put on my Facebook page? Much more substance there I think.

Music speaks much louder than any words I could ever write, and lucky enough I have some of my own to share with all of you.
