Produced on an array of hardware in Slim Steve’s bedroom in Rome, this is a refreshingly honest EP and takes X-Kalay into somewhat nostalgic territory. 90’s ballads meet sampled Italo percussion, skittish pitched up vocals pierce dangerous basslines and lung busting breakdowns give way to searching lasers in smoke filled rooms. English born Italian Steve Langrish accomplishes all this with a level of effortlessness that belies his astonishingly young years.

Not to rest on his laurels, TX Connect’s Gavin Guthrie is following that up with the 2nd release on the label by Austin’s man-of-the-moment Bill Converse. themes. Bill has been known to local Austinites for years as one of Texas’ best DJs and recently released a mix for Resident Advisor highlighting those skills. But it’s now his productions that are really starting to show his talents. Iconic label Dark Entries has thought enough of his work to release the seminal double album "Meditations/Industry" as well as the follow-up 12” "Warehouse Invocation". His debut on T.R.U. contains 2 deep excursions with 7 of 9 and Ahead, premiered here, both tech house masterworks that mix elements of Chicago and Detroit with a Texas flair that keeps it definitively Bill Converse. Ahead in particular brings Ron Trent’s Altered States to mind as well as some of Boo Williams’ premier work with its synths swirling around the metallic 909 percussion.

”Discontinuity” as a release is my attempt at trying to be unpredictable with electronic  music, even though all tracks are based on loops. The main focus of this EP is trying to approach a more cleaner sound while maintaining a warm comforting dreamscape. These songs have been inspired by clear water and the sounds of insects. All tracks of this release have hidden structures, so if you listen closely to certain components you hopefully get your brain zapped in a good stimulating way.

This EP is a charity release and all profit will be donated to the ongoing crisis of Yemen through Finn Church Aid.
