The topic of toxic power has been very prevelant to me recently.
This is just some food for thought. 
          
          "Power is the root of evil. Take a humble human, a hardworking individual, or a kind person and give them some semblance of control over others, big or small. In a short time we will see how their soul becomes corrupted, even darkened with authority. They become forever changed, losing sense of their core values.  The humble person is now arrogant truly believing they are better than their subordinates. The hard worker turns lazily to others with every simple request, refusing even to do the things they used to take joy in. The kind one loses all sense of empathy, completely unable to walk a mile in another’s shoes. Knowing that others depend on your opinions and actions causes one to truly believe that your actions are superior. As the disease of power spreads, even dear friends become nothing more than subordinates. And finally when your authority or word is questioned, when you are not blindly obeyed, this is viewed as treasonous even punishable. Let us celebrate those few who wield power with grace for they are the exception, not the norm.  And let us be careful, for if we chose to usurp the power, we face the potential to be polluted by its dangerous obscurity." - The Dragon
