Eugene's life began in Sicily. His family was forced to move to the North when Mafia bosses arrive to his town. 
The north of Milan becomes his house. As he gets older and starts to work, he discovers the world of aviation. It will soon become his dream.
Italy is going through many changes. Mussolini becomes its leader and World War II starts to take shape.

Part 1, The Old Times

In part two, we discover how Eugene's work and personality lead him to meet Hanz, a German pilot who shows Eugene all about planes. This meeting will be the start of his dream to become a pilot. As Eugene finally finds his true love, aviation. Germany, and Italy are already involved in fascism and Nazism. News from the two countries increasingly show changes toward totalitarialism and war.

Part 2, A Meeting With A Pilot

Eugene is finally trained as a pilot, he starts to work in the north of Italy among Hans. As Musolinni and Hitler meet, the reality of fascism and the role of Italy in Africa becomes increasingly important in the small Italian town. Soon enough Fascism will become part of Italian culture. 
Hans makes a trip to Germany. He works with his old friend Otto, an S.S soldier. Hans is one of the first to discover the real face of Nazism, the treatment of jews, and possible plans to invade countries in the East, in particular, Poland.

Part 3, Eugene's pilot training and Hanz's visit to the S.S

In this chapter, we will discover Hanz and Eugene's plan to go to America. As they work towards that goal, a series of problems and lack of money end up damaging the plans. 
Ultimately, Eugene is forced to leave someone important in Italy as he tries to get to America

Part 4. Escaping Italy

This chapter covers his arrival to South America, his struggle to travel to America, the rapid amount of bad news regarding the war in Europe and dominance of Germany, and finally the trip to Florida.

Part5 - South America

In this part, We will see a bit of the process, which air force pilots in world war II had to go through to get their wings. The process included a civilian course to add some hours of flight and get some experience with different phases of theoretical aspects, and then, if accepted, they would move to the military as a cadet to be part of the army air force in the US.

This is the story of my grandad, a world war II pilot, a veteran. I have compiled all his life in this podcast.
