Jason Drummond, aka Dj Spun, has been a fixture of NYC’s underground dance music scene since the turn of the millenium. Spun was the curator of MOMA’s PS1 warm up music series for nearly a decade.  His Promo Only/ Rong edit label shares credit for bringing the 1990s disco edit mania to the United States.  His All Night Rong parties in NYC with DJ Harvey and other seminal DJ’s remain the stuff of legend...

Up for the 92nd podcast is a special one for your enjoyment with Chris Lyth aka Jacksonville at the helm for the episode. Yorkshire born and getting out playing live across Europe for the past decade, Jacksonville is helping lead the new generation of spontaneous and live performance in dance and electronic music. Operating on a nice compact but versatile hardware rig on the go, allows him to really spread his wings and move dancefloors in new and exciting ways. Chris's career spans back the mid-nineties when he produced and remixed for various labels. A veteran in producing and releasing his own music under various names has led to landing music on a list of respected and beloved labels worldwide like Thug, Hobbes Music, 20:20 Vision, Hizou, Plastic City, Leftroom, Shanti, Inner Shift and Dan Curtin's pioneering Metamorphic among others.

For a glimpse into his most recent work check out the FON EP on Hobbes Music and the newly released track named Elektra on the Sextant pt.2 EP featured on the Swiss label Unruh. He also ran his own labels with Doppler and Advance labels in the past. He also spends time writing a sound production column for IDJ and can be found in the tech booth at the Bongo, where he's one of the resident engineers. With over 30+ releases over the past 20+ years his well-rounded experience has grown to the strong demand for his live performances. His live sound is a mix of various genres all tied to moving your feet and your mind. House and techno are the over-arching styles but there is so much more to describe that you will hear for yourself in this live set.

Gerhan (KOMODO) is a DJ / Musician / Producer / Remixer and Label founder (Akamady Records). He started DJ-ing in the mid 90s while studying in the US and honed a musicality of sonic layers rooted in rock sensibility. Bringing these sounds to Jakarta, he quickly became a core figure in Jakarta's underground dance music scene. From reinterpreting dub in the infamous 'Reggae Revolution' parties to 'Quirk it!’, ‘Music Akamady Sessions’ and ‘HDYLW?’ parties, he is quietly influential, consistently in demand, and remains as ever, a little out-of-reach of the radar. He’d been DJ-ing in these past years in various cities in Europe and Asia such as Berlin, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Seoul and Hong Kong. KOMODO has released 'Magic Hour EP' on Cocktail d'Amore (Berlin), ‘Make It Scream / Night Time’ on Ene Records (Tokyo), ‘Running Into The Sun’ on Not An Animal Records (London) and more other releases to follow.

Serenades Podcast #81 - KOMODO

The ever-evolving Dutch underground electronic music scene has been developing some of the world’s most exciting talent for the past 20 years or so. Even though Amsterdam has been the proverbial center and place where most of the events have been happening, cities like Rotterdam, Utrecht, and The Hague have had their fair share of contributing to the vibrant musical landscape in Holland. 

Lisbon born, Utrecht based, Nuno Dos Santos, is one of the staples of the Dutch scene and indeed, the figure that many young and upcoming artists look up to. Nuno belongs to a small group of forward-thinking artists that continuously keep pushing the sound and style of electronic music to a different level. Whether it is through his imprints Something Happening Somewhere (SoHaSo) and OOSSHA, well-curated events, or his mind-bending eclectic sets, Nuno never plays a ‘safe card’ and keeps things fresh and exciting. With Nuno, one thing is constant above all, and that is quality. 

We are delighted to have the opportunity to feature this phenomenal mix that checks all the boxes mentioned above. Without going into genre definitions, let’s say that this timeless mix is an ideal partner for these surreal times we currently live in. 
Hats off to you Nuno, you’ve done it again.
