For the second release in the Diversions series, XYZ has collected an eclectic mix of producers dripping with quality.

An early favorite of the XYZ team as his career was just taking off, Facundo Mohrr is a name at the tip of many tongues. One of the most forward thinking producers in the deep & melodic scene, Mohrr is surging onto the international scene, asserting himself as the biggest taste-maker to come out of Argentina since Hernan Cattaneo.

Diversions II [XYZ015]

Yulia Niko returns to Watergate Records with a trio of tracks showing the varied sides of her musical personality.

The Russian-born, Berlin-based artist first debuted on the label in October 2020 with the excellent 'Manifesto' EP. A year on and she’s exploring more experimental avenues thanks to the extra time and introspection the last 18 months have afforded.

The 'Rave Girl' EP is a colourful exploration into Niko’s musical mind. The title track was inspired by a reallife dialogue between two friends, and is a ripping dancefloor-orientated cut with a wicked acid underbelly.
'Fever' is a snaking groover, driven by a submarine-deep bottom-end and inky melodic flourishes. 'The Only Dream' found life from a jam session the producer had with the kalimba. The result is a dreamy breakbeat offering that sets the mood just right. An essential for any warm up set.

After a great success obtained by the first ep of Bunte Bummler, it's time to present a very expected release in the darkest label of Suruba family. We are talking about the remixes of "The Hunger", the main track (released in March of this year) by the German duo Bunte Bummler, with the collaboration of the German Daniel Wilde.
For this occasion we are very proud to count for the first time in Suruba X with two major producers who we deeply admire; the Valencian AFFKT and the Greek Berlin-based Siopis.

Fabian Winkels and Manuel Vobis are Bunte Bummler a very young couple of German producers who made themselves known with an ep on 8Bit Records. From now on they’ve regularly collaborated in Suruba X, Cecille, Mono Records and 8Bit again. 

In the original we found an interesting collaboration with Daniel Wilde, a regular of Souvenir Records and who sang in the last album of their owners, Tiefschwarz.

With an exquisite taste and a perfect Suruba X taste, we find the first of two remixes
signed by the Spanish AFFKT. After several years releasing on labels like Mobilee, Buzzin Fly, Rekids, Skint, Rebirth, Cecille, Suara, Darkroom Dubs, OFF, Vakant, Mothership and his own label Sincopat ... words aren’t enough to describe the quality of this super remix.

For the second remix a regular of Get Physical, the Greek Siopis. More than 16 releases on the Berlin label let clear his way to produce, where he will soon release his new album. He’s been a producer we’ve been looking for a long time, mainly because his tracks represent exactly the "vibe" that Suruba X is looking for.

Although he already left us his remix in the original March release, the London-based Mexican Betoko, creator of one of the summer  tracks "Raining Again" and producer for labels like Diynamic, Supernature or Get Physical, has been encouraged to edit the original and he presents us an instrumental version of the remix

Finally, Bunte Bummler themselves, doing a re-edit of their original track giving us a twist and offering a different view ..  more clubby than the first one.

Through collaborations with Acid Pauli and remixes of James Blake, Bortz remains impossible to categorize.

Alejandro Mosso’s Caravan caught the ear of Bortz, who’s laid a stiff rhythm and acid-vibe to percussive groover. Through keeping the original’s minimal-oriented kick, the Caravan remix is primed for dark rooms with crisp sound.

Making his debut on the label, Facundo connects with fellow All Day I Dream veteran DSF on his funky number Fraoula. Mohrr elongates the arrangement, creating a rising groove with subby undertones. The remix continues the acid-influence from Bortz’s remix, giving Fraoula a distinct edge under the lighter notes from the original production. A peak hour tune!

Rounding out a sumptuos trio of remixes is TÂCHES, a top-tier producer who’s skillfully maintained an aire of mystery throughout his illustrious career. The LA-based Brit’s worldly productions have some of the most distinct and unique flavors around. TÂCHES strikes a complex character, capturing worldly grooves dripping with sultry vocals and moody ambiance. Rhythmic mastery and romantic overtones are at the forefront of the mystery, and we couldn’t be more happy to have TÂCHES on board with XYZ.

Hosini’s Flyga is one of the labels most illustrious tunes thus far, and a pillar of our first year in operation. It’s a track that is immensely special to the XYZ team, and only a figure such as TÂCHES could do Flyga remix justice. By laying his own tripped out, mumbled vocals on top of Flyga’s melodic perfection, he’s injected a fresh character into the track. It maintains the irresistible rhythm while inviting a new personal perspective to the arrangement, and it all comes together masterfully.
