Rashid Ajami - The Day We Never Met

Now returning to Meanwhile after a trio of remixes for label head-honchos GMJ and Matter on June 2020's "Gauntlet" and February 2021's "The Path", Alex O'Rion now returns to the label with a devastating 4-track original EP of unrivalled quality.

The "Echium" title track is a blistering sub-bass monster that drives along powerfully on a bed of ticking hi-hats and chest-thumping kick. Building in momentum, smooth pads and effortless synth lines flow across the 8-minute piece before revelling in a stripped-back breakdown. Picking up the pace again in the third movement, gorgeous harmonic overtones layer delicately across each other, borne of never-ending delay sweeps.

Continuing their ascent through the organic house underground, Mariner + Domingo return to Madloch's 3rd Avenue with their new EP "I Don't Want To Wait". 3rd and Sound Avenue has become somewhat of a home base for the talented American duo. A cross section of Mariner + Domingo's most beloved tracks have come courtesy of the long-standing imprint, most notably Le' Carnival', Edenwilde' and Another Life', the latter of which earned play, support and a Beatport chart feature from world class DJ and All Day I Dream boss Lee Burridge. Now as 2022 gets underway, 3rd invites Soulfeed, Beije and Dzhef to remix 'I Don't Want To Wait'.

Across darkened velvet skies, "Almesian" burns brightly through the music of Golan Zocher and Greenage. Above South American and Indian continents complex constellations of sound are reflected in intricate percussive rhythms and galloping bassline. Stratified pads and filtered arpeggios glitter in deep reverberating space before "Alhena" appears. Evolving out of the same sonic matrix, a swirling and dense soundscape emerges in the night sky. A new energy formed from infinitely delayed synth lines and ethereal vocal phrases fly above seismic bassline and ticking rhythms.

Familiar melodies emerge across Gemini constellation as a new star is born. Bluum provides an unrivalled display of energy and emotion as "Alhena" charts a new course from the UK. Redolent in rich bassline dominance, new motifs provide elemental dynamism and explosive power. South America is once again the focus of attention where sultry rhythms emerge above Antrim's Cordoba. Exquisite sounds reveal themselves through ambient atmospheres and interwoven particles of noise that coalesce into new motifs and tropes; "Alhena" creates a new paradigm shift.

Madloch's Sound Avenue continues a successful year by welcoming Nopi back to the label for his debut EP. TOR and the When We Dip team proudly continue the label’s signature release series with the second edition of the Tales of Romance VA. As we set the early foundations of TOR’s sound and creative direction, this series showcases the pillars of the imprint in the years to come, and provides an explorative platform for our family of producers.

Leading the project is Somelee, a Ukrainian artist well known for a lovely melancholic & melodic production style. Recent gems on Radiant and Dawn till Dusk have us eager to present his A-side ‘Luna’. While the ever-present backbone of dreamy melodies and blissed out drums ease us through the early stages, the electro-oriented lead synth steals the show with immense character.
