Released as part of #theshapeofus project, raising awareness for elimination of misogynoir and violence against women; whilst amplifying support for Sistah Space - an organisation which advocates for victims of domestic abuse.

Sistah Space is currently fundraising for the UK's first specialist refuge for African & Caribbean women affected by abuse. 

The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the work being done by this organisation and encourage listeners to engage with and donate to the cause.

During a time of constant reminders of the dehumanisation of Black women I turned to the original song for comfort. After breaking down during the 2nd, 3rd ... & 8th replay, the solace it brought me became something so special and I needed to preserve it. I decided to use it as inspiration for a new song. 

I found the sampled beat on Youtube and the lyrics just started flowing. 

The world has been particularly unbearable recently. Writing this song brought me so much peace. I hope it does the same for you.
