Abstract & Friends Podcast #015: DJ Taugenichts (Ruhrgebiet)

"High Energy Melancholia" war das erste, was dem damals 20 heute 22 jährigen DJ aus Schermbeck, einem Örtchen (manche würden sagen Kaff) am äußersten Rand des Ruhrgebiets, einfiel, um den Sound von dem Track "Taming The Passion" auf der "A Lot Of Kaos" Platte zu beschreiben. Er hatte bis dahin noch nie wirklich Techno dieser Art gehört und war sofort verliebt in diesen Sound. Seitdem begleitet ihn das Motto und definiert auch seine Trackselection. Ein gutes Set ist seiner Aufassung nach treibend und dynamisch, verliert sich aber nicht in seiner perkussiven Monotonie und lädt durch gezielt gesetzte Spannungsmomente und eine gewisse Catchyness der Tracks zur Grenzerfahrung ein. Ob dabei mal ein Übergang nicht ganz sauber ist, sieht er nicht so eng, viel wichtiger ist für ihn das Gesamtbild.
 
Seine Sets spielt er meist auf einem Turntable und zwei CDJs und versucht dabei einen gesunden Mix aus gut gealterten 90s und early 2000s und aktuellen Techno zu finden. Zwischendrin findet sich dann auch mal hin und wieder ein Trance-Herzerwärmer, ein abgefahrenes Electro Stück oder aber auch ein Post-Punk Track, alles mit einem leichten Hang zur Melancholie und irgendwo zwischen 140 und 150 beats per minute.

Labels und die damit Verbundenen Künstler die ihn momentan am meisten beeinflussen sind was Aktuelles angeht: Abstraction, Falling Apart, Falling Ethics, KAOS, Kulør, Molekül, Ohne Kommerziellen Wert, Possession, SpaceTrax und die RSPX Reihe von Planet Rhythm. Bei den älteren Sachen sind es vor allem early Schranz a la Stigmata, Polymeric Records und Primate Records oder auch progressive Tracks aus den Katalogen von Cluster Records oder Apex, die ihn begeistern.

Time is part of »Phobophobia (Fear)«

WYTE.CO's debut album »Phobophobia (Fear)« was made in 2018 and 2019 and features dark but melodic techno wrapped in various genres leading to classical music.
It tells a love story starting to break. Associated fears came up. First the pain, then the time followed by decisions, technology taking over the personal connection replacing fundamental aspects. Mirrors started to appear as a symbol of self reflection until everything shattered and became toxic. Everything good became a delusion. The dream went on and died in form of reminiscence—which had ended this chapter.

Wet As a Bussi

What is a Zotodorpo? Hard question to which no one might know the answer, all we know is that it makes quite a pleasant noise. Raw rhythms merged with hypnotic synths is all we need. On the other hand we got 'Tommy Gun' with an amazing control over distortion and dynamics.
