Get your favorite headphones or sound system ready for another curated trip through my favorite finds from May of 2019. This month starts with some awesome disco edits and house tunes from the likes of Late Nite Tuff Guy, Revers Gagnant and Iain Jaimieson. The mix progresses into more acid electronic music, highlighted by tracks from Route 8, Regularfantasy & D-Tiffany as Plush Management Inc., and Lou Karsh. The acid-fix transitions into harder, and progressively maybe more warehouse-y, techno tracks from Sugar, Sebastian Hoffmann, and Swarm Intelligence. Finally, the end of the mix is anchored in higher tempo break tracks from Moma Ready, Bjarki, and TDK.

I like the idea of starting these playlists off an a more downtempo/disco/house-y note and then progressing into deeper and darker acid techno and breakbeat tracks. Makes for better story telling and playlist continuation. Credit for all of the individual tracks goes to the following list of incredibly talented artists. Highly recommend diving deeper into the personal collections of any artist whose track in this mix resonates with you.

@cristian-klebleev's track “Until The End” closes the VA with a steady-paced rhythm flavoured by the phased acapella vocals of The Choir Of Milagros, which come in and out of focus as the track unfolds its immersive arrangement designed with chilled drums, rotating background textures and shuffling complementary effects.

Furious Frank returns to Butter Sessions with 'Ahora Sí'. The fully fledged house anthem is the result of a cross-continental collaboration with Barcelona based vocalist and producer Ivy Barkakati.

We're treated to four versions of 'Ahora Sí', all tested and ready for the dance floor and those special moments! Kicking it off, Frank delivers his "Original Acid Mix". A deep, squelchy lurker with nods to late 80's and 90's house music, peaking with thick piano chords and Barkakati's deep Spanish vocals. On the 'Sunrise' mix, the piano and chords become the focus and set the mood for an uplifting journey, bolstered by the raw thump and jack of the drum machines.

The flip side see's Barcelona based "IVAN" emerge with their version. The duo made up of Ivy Barkakati and Phran of Klasse Wrecks fame slow things down a touch, mangle the chords and inject the rhythm with flattering top-drawer percussion. Vancouver native D. Tiffany rounds the EP off with sub-heavy bass drops, hi-tek rhythms, euphoric vocal slithers and more stingin' acidic vibes.

Expert in trippy joints and knee-buckling bounce, OZ-based producer @reptant_the_lizard is back with a vengeance after an array of choice outings on the likes of Salt Mines, Planet Euphorique and Craigie Knowes. No warm-up lap needed, 'Phasic Reflex' may start as a tycho-esque daydream, what's bred in the bone comes out in the flesh. A pure adrenaline rush of vogue-ing 303, hi-voltage electro and intricate drum programming, this one has dancefloor ripper written all over it.

Keeping the tension up to hazardous levels, 'MS Plenty' zones out to a Detroit-style elixir of arpeggiated seesaws and pong-indebted, body-jacking pep. As its title suggests - or not, the B-side opener 'A Realist's Realistic Reality' clearly lies closer to a cyphered Dick-ian parallel world full of binary bleepin' and swirlin', post-kosmische infused riffs and tentacular Arpanet-style modularity, which @roza-terenzi alters into a lo-pressure dub expedition - better tasted at sunrise, feet buried deep in the sand and your hazy mind draped in the cosy folds of a cheerful seaside sloth with friends.

C12 is a multidisciplinary nightclub and platform run by the Deep in House collective, located in the heart of Brussels. It's a safe place where freedom, diversity, creativity and alternative culture are protected from the restrictive and normative outside world. The project was launched in February 2018 and includes concerts, art installations, lives, club nights and exhibitions.

The Corona crisis is keeping our doors closed and dancefloor empty for several weeks now, with no hopes yet on new line-ups and crowds of enthusiastic dancers. But this unprecedented situation isn’t holding us still. Continuing to support our local Brussels and Belgian electronic music scene, C12 is proud to announce its own label with 10 music compilations dubbed Social Distancing. All artists involved are Belgian or strongly connected to the Brussels scene. Confirmed are Le Motel, Stellar OM Source, A.Brehme, Front De Cadeaux, Davy, OCB Casa Voyager, Cabasa, Techno Thriller, Orphan Swords, Different Fountains, Bear Bones Lay Low, Gols, Hadone, ... and our residents Session 4000, Kafim & Chris Ferreira. Compilations will also be curated by female artists promoting platform ‘Psst Mlle’ and queer culture collective ‘Benediction’.

Each edition consists of a collection of several tracks and will be released every two weeks, leading to a total of approximately fifty tracks. All music will be available to add on your favorite streaming service Soundcloud, Youtube, Spotify (coming soon) and Bandcamp. In addition for each track we offer a limited amount of 500 free downloads through our Bandcamp page, where donations are also enabled for those who wish to support us and the artists involved.
