Undersound podcast #26 - Vass

Argentina-born but Barcelona-based, Tunik's real home is at the forefront of the underground. As a DJ, he has a knack for unearthing overlooked records and turning them into hot ID requests. His fledgling production career has already yielded high-class results since 2020, with EPs on My Own Jupiter alongside its founder Nicolas Lutz, and more on Furthur Electronix. Each one is a blend of industrial cosmic sounds, with paranoid atmospheres and low-slung yet mechanical grooves that are both spooky yet seductive and next up is his A New Dawn EP on our own label. It further deepens Tunik's journey into dark wave synths and machine-made rhythms packed with emotion. 

He goes long on this week's podcast with a two-hour deep dive into his signature blend of house, techno and electro. There is plenty of room for everything from spaced-out rhythms to more corrugated machine funk. It's a forward-thinking selection that always feels like it comes back from the future whether deep and pensive or more jacked up and physical. A superb, floor-facing selection for non-stop dancing.

Dea live at Hoppetosse. I remember needing a DJ to make a smooth and coherent transition from the more electro and with a higher BPM liveset from Detroit In Effect to a slowerr BPM and more straight and 4/4 based beat, and I thought directly of her to handle the merging role. Was not disappointed, have a nice trip.

Sonic Sorceress currently conjuring up sounds in Berlin with trail leading back to Slovenia, Ibiza, Croatia and beyond...

Petit raton du Sud qui se cache entre les nuages parisiens. Gaspard c’est un des mecs les plus deter qu’on connaisse, c’est un giga sang, mais surtout, c’est un énorme rat.
Grand footballeur, il jongle aisément entre son collectif Free Mousse, son taf chez kma, et d’autres projets annexes, tout ça malgré son handicap orthographique ! En vrai, on vous conseille surtout de checker le Free Mousse Festival qu’il est en train d’organiser : le spot sera fou, et le line up aussi, dont pas mal de têtes marseillaises que vous connaissez déjà bien.
Bref, vous l’aurez compris, ce mec aime vraiment bien la mousse. La légende dit qu’un jour il reviendra passer quelques jours dans le Sud, mais bon, d’ici là on se contente de son merveilleux podcast.

C’est vraiment quali, on espère que ça va vous plaire.

XENO UK - OH YEAH [BKR]

Katia Curie delivers the final podcast before this year’s festival. The Ukrainian DJ, now based in Vienna, is rising fast, with an impressive run of recent mixes showcasing a refined ear and a deft touch on the turntables. Her manipulation of sound speaks to her classical music training from childhood.

Clocking in at just under an hour, DIM332 expertly leans into the rolling tech-house sound that Katia has become so formidable wielding.
