Ready Mix Records heads to Algeria for release number 232 on the imprint, a shimmering original track titled 'Mirage' by Ephlum & Areslan, remixed by BiGz, Dogus Cihan, 7even (GR) and Haris Kate.  

Algiers-based DJ, producer and electronic musician Ephlum joins forces with respected string player (and member of the Algerian National Orchestra) Arelsan for the captivating 'Mirage', which perfectly lives up to its name, like a sonic heat-haze dancing upon an infinite horizon. Warm, expansive pads and subtle ethnic percussion touches make way for Areslan's soaring live solos played on a traditional Arabic (Oud), a classical Ottoman (Bağlama also known as a Saz) and an electric guitar.  

Ready Mix founder BiGz plays on the hypnotic quality of 'Mirage', settling into a languid yet compelling groove, before Areslan and his strings take center stage.  

Next up, Turkish producer Dogus Cihan provides a darker and more foreboding version of 'Mirage', with growling sawtooth synths and heavy drums.  

Greek artist 7even (GR) fires up a delightfully crunchy arrangement, taking 'Mirage' into late-night territory- this is one for the house steppers.  

Finally, fellow Greek producer Haris Kate slows the tempo and gives Areslan's strings a distinctly live-jammed quality, creating a beautifully organic, slow-motion vibe.

KNZO - REFLECTIONS [Progressive Vibes Light - PVM875L]

On April 14th, 2015 i went to Casablanca (Morocco) to work on a very particular and uniq project called Boddhi Satva meets Gnawa. 

This EP consist of 4 live recordings created and recorded live for this special occasion. Put together by one of Ancestral Soul number 1 fan miss Rita Mediouni as a celebration event for the 1 year anniversary of her 152 Concept store. 

Maalem Hammam, and his band have inherited this gift from their fathers and forefathers. A gift that is here for the first time mixed together with my music.  

In Moroccan popular culture, Gnawas, through their ceremonies, are considered to be experts in the magical treatment of scorpion stings and psychic disorders. They heal diseases by the use of colors, condensed cultural imagery, perfumes and fright.


For those who may not know about the Gnawa's: 
The Gnawa (or Gnaoua, Ghanawa, Ghanawi, Gnawi) people originated from West Africa; to be precise the ancient Ghana Empire of Ouagadougou (present day Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Burkino Faso and 85% of Mali (pre Gnawi/Mali Wars)).

The well cultured Do Not Sit label from Behrouz now returns with more enchanting house music, this time from Fluida who serves up four fantastic new cuts. This fine sonic craftsmen has put out music on the likes of Southern Fried and Anjunadeep and has a meticulous sense of melody and groove. 

Opener The Whole Moon is a colourful and loose house cut with spiritual synths and nice organic percussion. It's romantic and deep and has a real sense of heart warming soul. And The Entire Sky is another dreamy effort, with lush hang drum sounds peppering the smooth house drums as pads drift off into the distance. Reflected Within is a hiccuping cut with more broad synth strokes making for that late night and intimate feel that defines this label’s output. It is musical and makes an emotional impact. A Single Dewdrop On The Grass has glassy tinkles and succulent drums, with more woody percussive sounds, xylophones and hip swinging drums all sinking you into a reverie. 

This is a perfectly rich and rewarding house EP from one of the best in the game
