2013 has been a pretty special year for Houndstooth. In December 2012 we were staring down the barrel of a daunting release schedule all giddy from the excitement of it but understandably nervous at the same time. It’s all the same energy though, nerves and excitement and the artists we’ve worked with and released have done more to inspire us and stoke our sense of pride over the past 12 months than anyone or anything else. So as a bit of a thank you to them and as a means of underlining our first year in existence, we asked our roster to remix each other’s music and create something uniquely Houndstooth for the year’s end. 

HTH vs HTH is a 7-track EP that pits the production processes of our artists against one another with Special Request and Akkord tackling each other’s stems whilst Call Super and Second Storey trade tracks alongside interwoven interpretations of House of Black Lanterns and _Unsubscribe_ and a chilling Snow Ghosts cover version.

This EP comes from Birmingham based Pluralist, a fan of the label who got in contact after seeing our stickers plotted around student town Selly Oak; where the label was born. After his success releasing a contrasting 2 track EP on Shangheid records including the sure to be popular festival tune “I Like It How It Is”, Pluralist is here to show versatility in his musical tastes through his array of productions and investment in underground nightlife.

Exploring his interest in the more measured, atmospheric side of electronic music, Movement presents his debut EP under a new alias, Agora. Whilst illustrating the influences of his roots in UKG and Breakbeat, Agora moves further from conventional dance music as the release progresses, finishing with the title track, Oranges & Lemons, an ode to a love of ambient. His most introspective release so far, Oranges & Lemons showcases a transition from the club ready dance space, to a sphere of home listening by the time of the closing track.
