X5s - Nyan Cat

After some time off I went back and took a second look at a lot of the tracks I had released over the last 10 years with a main focus on the past two CD's. I decided that I needed to finally do something I've been wanting to do for a long time - to release a "remix" CD similar to that of Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory album. This is some WIP of how Interphase turned out when I took a fresh second pass. I focused on re-tuning and re-mastering a lot of the original pieces but then decided to venture a little bit... take a listen!

Interphase V2018 (WIP)

This is one of the new tracks that will make its way into that remix CD I was talking about. It doesn't have a name or (potentially) vocals yet but I wanted to make sure no one thinks I'm just rehashing old tracks! I opted for a more natural drum sound in expectation of some raw vocals. That TB303 style trance synth just worked really well with the chug bass so I figured a more "plastic" trance sound with a "natural" drum sound would be neat.

Untitled [12/09/17] (WIP)

A lot of people enjoyed Master Machine when it was released on Phase G1 and I wanted to follow-up on that same hype but with a happy hardcore twist. I sat down and ripped out the bassline. Then I bumped the tempo up to 165 and began working on re-adding the bass; at the same time editing the synth to create a series of hard shifts. Tons of inspiration for this was pulled from artists like Savant where the music is just constantly changing styles within the same song. The original Master Machine is more of a progressive trance track, I encourage you to listen to the original!

Master Machine (Overclocked Mix) (WIP)

When I was looking at re-engineering PWTNT I wanted to keep the hard gritty acid synth but I also wanted to get rid of the rigid patterns and move to something a little more dynamic so I could play around with the synth chart. I tried to zone-in on that hard trance / hard dance sound with a throwback to the acid lines of the early 2000's.
