Better Days

2nd track from Grundomma 
Grundomma is myself and my brother Glenn Ward. It's been a few years since we actively made music together...but now seems like a good a time as any. We live a few 1000 kms apart across Australia so this a file swapping exercise. Bongo features Glenn on rhythm programming, synths and sampling, bass and yours truly on Piano/keys. The track features samples from the 1970s/80s cult Australian Tv show Prisoner  (released in the UK and USA as Prisoner: Cell Block H)  that ended up playing in repeat on late night Tv for decades afterwards. My brother even owns the DVD box set Thanks as always for stopping by. Grundomma salutes you : )

Prized Possession  by Jo Richter

I have a postcard from Robert E. Pirisig
whom I had sent some sweet sheet music
"'taint what you do, 'tis the way that you do it"
it sits in my copy of 'Lila' whenever I grab it


sonic structures and silent stretches
A white shawl has travelled here from Tibet
with close relations; having greyed out a bit
it still shines brightly when properly lit
and I feel welcome when dreary times hit

Some first editions of poems stand proud
in my shelves; I hear them ring out
with chimes and with bells when I am about
to put pen to paper, have ink lines pour out



A simple mask from a house on a hill
reminds me of journeys deeper still
through live networks of tubular thrill
to places where vibrating colour-shapes spill

A golden ring bearing my very own name
once sat on a finger from whence it came
when we split ways, not sharing the same
perspective on trust - I was forced to reclaim


One wall is adorned with a poster of Beuys
who knew how to keep a balanced poise
when Shiva Lila creates and destroys
and the world is drowned in thunderous noise

(That's why....)
I also have a guitar in my room
to strum and sound and ride like a broom
'taint what you do' when imminent doom
is about to open and fill your tomb
