I made this track at work after being caffeinated enough to be drumming on my desk. I had the thought that I should just download the plug in I use for drums and just start making beats in Reason. 
After I got the drum beat down, I added the weird arpeggiated sounds that have a continuous six note pattern that flows over the usual bar lines because I love it when there's a pattern that's absolutely unconstrained by the usual repeating bar lines regardless of how stupid it lines up on the grid. I also really liked have a more percussive element as the main part of the arpeggio with the actual synth sounds to support the notes layered behind it becuase I don't think I've ever done something like that. 
After that it was a simple matter of creating a simple chord progression to loop with the drums, add bass, and that sketches out the main loop. 
For some reason I've been playing around with using Reason's main mixer to add effects and stuff a lot lately. So a lot of the filtering is automation of the main mixer's high and low pass filters.

Track best experienced in headphone because that's how it was produced. 
 I listened back on my macbook speakers to make sure it translated decently, but I've never listened to it super loud so I have no idea if it actually holds up.

In Oct ’16, a friend died of a drug overdose. Within the next 2 years, several other peers died of either overdose or suicide. I wrote this song about how this all made me feel, and how much it sucks when your friends die. Jane was that first friend’s middle name, so we titled it “Jane” a la ‘Jane Doe’ because everyone has a ‘Jane’ that they’ve lost. We recorded with Nick Diener (The Swellers) at Oneder Studios.
