Recent Defected Records addition Kiddy Smile delivers the full release of "Let A B!tch Know" this December via the illustrious UK imprint. The Frenchman's release comes stacked with an army of top notch reworks that includes House titan Gene Farris, fellow Frenchman Boston Bun and the inimitable Catz n'Dogz. That's not all, however. To mark the occasion, the label present a gift from Berlin-based maestro Alinka (former resident at Smart Bar in Chicago and founder of Twirl Recordings). She joins the party with a sleek remix of her own. It's available right now via free download.

X-Kalay are ringing in their milestone 10th release with a various artist compilation, and what a release it is. Launching only last year, the London-based imprint has put out quite a few releases already from artists such as Rudolf C, Kask and No Moon amongst others. Their sound ranges from more melodic, lo-fi sounding productions to dubbed out and downright acid-y tracks. Their 10th release features producers from three continents. Mucho Sueno from Chile, two Australians in E.Davd and Escape Artist, and finally Zurich, Switzerland-based Douala who we're premiering today.

With a couple of releases on Gnork's label Blorp, Douala has been crafting a bit of a name for himself in the lo-fi scene. Generally his productions have a more melodic flare but in this case, the A1 track Mysteries of Life strays a bit from what we've come to expect from the producer. Taking a more minimalistic and dubby approach, the single has a hypnotic air about it with an upbeat rhythm but spaced out and reverberating cosmic synths, perfect for the late night hours. This instrospective tune is not one you want to miss out on and the rest of the release is a treat as well!

PREMIERE : Douala - Mysteries Of Life

Influential early electronic Italian band N.O.I.A. are releasing some of the most vital tracks form their back catalogue, and the terrific latest two come with remixes from Francisco and Ali Renault.
N.O.I.A. was amongst the first electronic music groups to emerge in the late seventies and early eighties alongside peers like Human League and Depeche Mode. In their time, N.O.I.A. released on labels like EMI, Italian Records and CBS and were successful on the Italian, German and Belgian dance markets. These tracks come from a demo session recorded in mid 1982 at the Oderso Rubini (Italian Records co-owner) studio and are perfect examples of their still essential style.
The superb ‘Forbidden Planet’ is a shiny early electro cut with a great funk bass line, a real instrumental groove and fantastic melodies that shimmer like a hot sun. It’s filled with joy and sounds as fresh today as ever, the way it ducks and dives and offers real warmth.
The Francisco Remix keeps the funk vibe but changes the groove to be a more Chicago house style cut. As such it has a rasping bassline, big drums and coarse percussion that make you want to jack.
The masterful Ali Renault—a go-to disco and synth specialist who runs Cyber Dance Records, Human Shield Record Company and most recently his own Vivod imprint—then turns out a hypnotic version that is more driven and direct for the dance floor, with robotic bass and epic reflective synth lines. It’s a cinematic track with great analogue textures that goes back to the future.
The last original is the excellent ‘Stay With Me’, a cosmic love song with breezy trumpets and dreamy disco vibes as well as soulful vocals. Italo melodies and infectious percussion finish it off and make it an instant crowd pleaser.
These are four tracks imbued with shades of electro, Italo and disco that cannot fail to inject feel good vibes to any set.

SALT007 Escape Artist - Signs Of Life EP

It's this experience of being at an age when you're really uncertain of everything and overwhelmed by how much grief and how much horror is happening in this world, overwhelmed by your trauma and your baggage and in many ways you are stunted by this fear or paralysed by it even though you are aware of how much better you have it than the vast majority of others out there. It isolates the idea that we all exist within a framework of fragility and uncertainty. 'Distilled Existence' imagines an alternative reality that exists in stark contrast, where everything is gentle and nothing hurts. This track is by Pulsum. Spoken word poem written and delivered by Ariana Molly.

Following solid EP’s on "Is it Balearic" and "Balearic Social" Joe Morris from Clandestino crew offers up four gorgeous cuts for "Pleasure Unit". Continuing the producers passion for new age, paradisiacal ambience and dreamy deep house lead title "Jacaranda Skies" could easily be the result of a Telephones and Larry Heard jam session had they met in Rimini circa 1991. A dusky atmosphere provides the backdrop to ecstasy inducing chords; an elevated brass sequence and afro percussion drive forth a tight groove. "Mangrove Dawn" here premiered, is an aural Quaalude hit. Gentle synth washes tumble over each other while nature sounds buzz through a distant 303 line. "The Lost Garden" opens to a reverb soaked slide guitar and soaring pad section before a Jaguar snarl introduces a subtle kick pattern atop languid chimes and Bali bells. "Skies Reprise" closes off the EP with a beat less take on the original. The melodies given more space for a sonic equivalent of open air swaying under hazy pink skies.

Filled with unique nuances and creative vocal sampling, knee rattling base and a sprinkle of synthesisers which hum and snap, enter Requite the latest offering from Tape Throb puppeteer and master of distortion The Cyclist. Progress through tracks which dip their rhythmic toes into techno, no wave and psychedelia, bridged across the divide by the artistic tropes of a musician who knows both his stamp and his reach. Dissimilar and yet united, material and yet transient, Requite is a favour returned from an adherence to the Andrew Morrison project, a response for the love which bent brass and set bones in motion. Our pal @joelewandowski is a dj and producer from Paris. When he first listened to Masters at Work, he immediately fell in love with soulful music.  Despite an adulterous relationship with techno and his band "the Iron years", he always stayed faithful to his one true love : house music. In 2015, he went to live in New York and released there his first EP "Premiers frissons". Back in Paris, Joe became resident of several clubs and raves like Garage and le Pas-sage. This new EP called  "Lovondasky" is his first one on vinyl. The Parisian producer is trying, with this EP, to blend all of his influences : from raw rythms to leftfield house or italo disco.

Based in Berlin, Lemon Test has garnered a reputation for its quality podcast series over the last year, featuring names such as John Osborn, Christopher Breuer and Simon Caldwell. The platform now launches itself as a forward thinking imprint for producers, showcasing artists who have caught their eye from across the globe without being confined to one genre. Club Mayz is the first to appear on the label, a producer from Ghent who debuted on Wool-E Tapes with his darkwave synth album ‘The Void’ on cassette back in 2015.
‘Tristique’ is a meandering, effervescent ride that builds in atmosphere as stellar chords ebb in and out of the mix before ‘Alone and Unafraid’ takes us to space with its syncopated groove drizzled in elements of nostalgia. Continuing the otherworldly aesthetic, ‘Solipsist Debauchery’ takes that cosmic noise even further, upping the energy as mesmerising synths and spectral melodies operate throughout. Macaulay is Ricardo Medina, a Mexico City based DJ / producer deeply ingrained in the Mexican underground techno scene. Along with Mijo, he is the founder of the tongue-in-cheek Exxxtra Picante label and frequent contributor to prominent Mexican labels Disque Discos and Platino. He presents an EP full of acid drenched techno joined by tad bit of cheekiness he is known for, with rolling basslines and jacking drums making these cuts perfect for peak time weirdness. On remix duty is fellow Mexico City based Alejandro Paz (Defected, Comeme, RBMA) who ups the wonkiness on Techmoreno with a percussion filled heater.
