Lust For Youth – Display (feat. Soho Rezanejad)

This is an unmastered, unmixed demo I recorded in my home studio in preparation of the new album. It features a rhythmic section inspired by my time spent with the Candombe (drums) players of Argentina.

‘in Delta’ is an ambient work that explores the texture of sound in a non-linear form. My decision to use a broken guitar gave me not only the opportunity to record a variety of sounds without fear of damage, but it also set its own limitations on me. I was only ‘allowed’ to use the strings it had left and ‘accept’ the sound and tuning into which they had settled over time.

Safe Keeper

This is an edit of recordings from the highland rainforests of the Huon Peninsula in Papua New Guinea.

These recordings were made during a recent trip to PNG with several colleagues from the Australian Wildlife Sound Recording Group. This edit contains some highlights from the four weeks we spent trekking and recording in the mountain forests above 2000m. 

In the near future I'll be making these recordings available in full, but for now, this is some of what we encountered.

The summer solstice come and gone,
now the dark of the moon comes on.
The raging sun in his pale sky
has drunk the sap of the world dry.
Across the plains the dustwhirls run
and dust has choked the shrivelling tree.

This is my world that dies with me, 
cries the curlew in the night.
I have forgotten how the white
 birdfooted water in the creek
used in spring to call and speak.
All is fallen under the sun
and the world dies that once I made.

The strength that brandished my green blade,
the force uncoiling from the cell,
 drains like water from a wrecked well,
 says the dried out corn of the earth.
The seed I cherished finds no birth.

Now the dark of the world comes on.

My third & final ambient mix from God Goes Deep at the Vor Frue Kirke in Copenhagen, recorded in April 2018 💒 You are hearing a 6-channel mixdown (stereo line out + stereo microphones under the dome + stereo microphones suspended above the pews). I aimed to recreate the immersive atmosphere of God Goes Deep which was like entering a parallel universe. The sense of calm created by music, surroundings & acoustics was corporeal & completely cathartic. Basically the greatest sound bath you can imagine 🛀🎶
