This is an exclusive vinyl-only session with music from some of the artists from Mostra Barcelona Festival (@mostrabcn). The mix showcases the different styles you'll find at the festival, with a flowing coherence to the sound. It starts with ambient and electronica and continues into a hypnotic, gliding deeper techno sound. The two ABSIS tracks serve as a bridge between styles. The session concludes with broken rhythms of sinuous bass and Lynchian atmospheres. In this special mix, you'll find some of our favourite tracks from the last few years - classics already in the Mostra festival record bag.

Mostra is a brand new small-format festival of avant-garde and experimental electronic music, taking place 11-17 April in open air venues in Barcelona. Mostra is local, inclusive and sustainable: it proposes an alternative experience, providing visibility to artists not often seen in the main venues, and offering a counterpoint to the city's macro-festivals and commercial events. It’s always a pleasure to play here; you can be completely free. I wanted to flow with the energy of the moment and decide right there what to do. Even though I had several options prepared, I went for techno. I sensed that many artists were playing half-time and all that current vibe that I love, but given the time of my set, I felt something more 4x4 was needed. Plus, if I have to get people dancing, I feel more comfortable playing techno. I enjoy slower tempos when the set is more ambient.

There were some really unforgettable moments for me, like when I played Alien Rain, one of my favorite tracks. I enjoy sets that evolve, starting with deep techno and ending up with classic minimal techno, or even trance. These days I’m fully into that, although I’ll probably get bored and switch it up soon, haha... I admire DJs who stick to one style and master it, that’s how true masters perfect their craft. But that’s not me. I enjoy risk and variation, even if sometimes the risk is playing a “normal” set.

Right now, we are promoting our next party in Granada. Along with my partners Fran Acosta and Kaizen, we created Klub Collective more than two years ago, and our next guest will be Forest Drive West. Words can’t describe the excitement we feel.

I’m also continuing with my show Espacio Ingrávido, but I do it whenever I can given the stress of my current lifestyle.

Seven Years At The Chi Factory 

Hanyo van Oosterom started the ambient collective CHI in 1983. Jacobus Derwort, a musician friend with Hanyo was the first musician to join CHI. Together, they went to the magic rock “The Kallikatsou” on the island of Patmos, Greece.
Here, Hanyo had stayed for months in a cave for some deep soul-searching. He heard CHI in the silence of the night like a message from out of space. Being together at the Kallikatsou they shaped the foundation of CHI, making handmade flutes from local bamboo and conducting field recordings of water, crickets, owls, goats, wind, etc.

After several years of collaborations with musicians like Willem Cramer and Michel Banabila, they decided to start together the beautiful The Chi Factory with which released (with the help of Ario Farahani and his label Astral Industries) some of the most beautiful records in the history of ambient music
Following the passing of group member J. Derwort in 2019, Hanyo van Oosterom’s legacy work brings about the next evolution of the Chi project: Son of Chi.

A compilation of 10 albums recorded for Astral Industries (UK) 2016-2022, including three bonustracks that were never release or streamed online.

"It had to burn. The solar flares came summoning in waves of a distorting orange and gold that stretched across the Sun’s fury. The force itself was determined to strip her bare, to leave nothing but the pulse of its annihilation. Her skin began to burn beneath its weight, a searing warmth she couldn’t avoid or embrace. With each flare, something of her began to shed, pieces of identity glitching away like ash. There was a low hum, as though reality itself was malfunctioning, its edges distorting, flickering under the weight of what couldn’t be undone. The universe had turned inward, had folded itself into a singular moment, there was no one left to blame, no one to look to but herself."

Dima (@isdima) is an American-Argentine music producer, researcher, and founder of Irradia, a platform based in Barcelona that designs listening sessions and multidisciplinary experiences. Her practice examines how sonic and spatial identities can reshape memory, future narratives, and collective processes by inviting emotional engagement and cultural growth in more nurturing environments. Currently, she’s preparing to release her debut EP, Salva.

For the March edition of the series, we have a live set from Farron. The prolific artist, hailing from Bavaria, Germany, has a knack for broken rhythms and electronics in its genre-bending form.

Through his label, Shaw Cuts, founded in 2015, he releases his own mind-tingling works, varying from ambient and breakbeat to cutting-edge dub techno, while also pushing artists close to his vision. His most recent album, Feal, displays his wide range in the best way. Go find out for yourself by checking out the Shaw Cuts Bandcamp page.

For this mix, the artist recreated a live set from a gig in Trier, Germany, at villaWuller in November 2024, as he wanted to reminisce the set he had created that night.
