Evil E-Tuned Guitar of Doom

This was supposed to be a track linking 2 pieces together, but I suppose it kind of evolved into something else.

It was enjoyable taking it in so many different directions, giving it a lot of varying moods and emotions, hence forth let it be known as "Creative balance".

Oh btw, there's a djenty bit at the end.

Huge updates to the previously uploaded version of Surrealism, but this time completely rerecorded on an Ormsby 8-string Hype GTR.
I took a little inspiration from that 80s punchy drum sound, and those toms really shine with a little gated reverb (although it's not really gated) where the room microphone is very compressed. What a result!
Still in the tuning of F# B E A D G B E.

Surrealism (Rough)

So I remade this tune in a slightly different tuning than the original about 6 months ago and it's been sitting in a folder waiting to be worked on.

I used my Ormsby Hype GTR 8-string in the tuning F# B E A D G B E

Beautiful guitar with a massive tone potential. I also love how thinner strings sound on the low F#.

Neck pickup is used for cleans and solos too. Sounds good to me! :)

Opposing Force Pt 2 in F# minor (Rough)

An emotionally twisting track with a dark/eery, yet grandiose/extravagant feeling.

A jazzy attempt at mixing 80s montage style progressions with some 8-string metal. The key changes were insanely challenging to come up with, as were all of the intertwining tempo/time signature changes.

It's still pretty rough in terms of recording, but the main structure is there. Just a few tweaks and we're golden.

I hope it does eventually get picked up again because the art style was vivid an colourful and the idea seemed to bond with the tracks pretty well at the time! In 1986 The Quarantines released their first single "Corona Rhapsody" from the album "Lockdown Liberation".

They only produced a handful of vinyls during the original album production run, all of which were either sent to a handful of avid collectors or lost to the tragic factory fire that happened during the production run in August 1986, which destroyed most of the company's assets including the glass masters, and sent Furloughed Records spiralling into bankruptcy.

Their ambitious tour manager Carl Oscar Vincent Isaac Davidson - 19 at the time, said that they would "not let this catastrophe be the downfall of the band" and that they would "continue to make music if people still wanted to hear them".

As luck would have it, I found this tune on an old VHS tape recording from an MTV episode that aired back in the late 80's in my mother's basement a few days ago and thought it would be worth sharing with everyone.

The Quarantines Corona Rhapsody '86

So I decided to fiddle around with tone on this one based on the really old Bulb tunes.

I think it has that characteristic that I most enjoyed about them, which I don't feel is very prominent any more in most modern "djenty" metal on the whole.

Bands seem to be going for this boxy sound which takes away one of the best characteristics of metal on the whole. TIGHTNESS!
